'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 9: Did we just get a glimpse of when Kai Parker will return?
When Ryan Clarke (Nick Fink) pretended to be Vardemus, the new Headmaster of Salvatore School in the second season of 'Legacies', he got Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant) to perform a series of dark magic spells. He then used a mora miserium -- an hourglass-like object -- for Josie to channel her dark energy into.
In the first episode since 'Legacies' returned after its midseason break this week, we see that Josie is trying to ensure that the mora miserium remains protected. Should the mora miserium break -- as Hope Mikaelson's (Danielle Rose Russell) "old friend Vincent" once told her, a mora miserium is doomed to break -- it could unleash all of Josie's darkness.
When Josie does her research, she even gets what could be glimpses of the future and one in which Josie's eyes are black all over, with black veins over her face -- signifying that this is Josie turned dark. Hope and Josie work together to ensure the protection of the magical object. While this gives our favorite witches a chance to bond after the whole Landon Kirby( Aria Shahghasemi) love-triangle-debacle, we still remain worried about whether the mora miserium can truly be prevented breaking.
Our question is answered at the end of the episode as the camera pans from a sleeping Hope to the mora miserium, on which a significant crack emerges.
Late last year, it was announced that Chris Wood would return to reprise his role as Malachai "Kai" Parker -- Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) and Josie's bio-mom's twin brother who was one of the most terrifying villains on 'The Vampire Diaries'.
We wonder whether Josie's dark turn could coincide with Kai's return. While Alaric Saltzman does have the object that acts as the key to the dimension where Kai is trapped, he could use it if he senses Josie is truly in danger and perhaps the only one who could help them is Kai. It would be quite the "Hail Mary" since we're sure Kai is the last person Alaric would want to see after what Kai did, that is, killing his wife -- the twins' mother -- on their wedding day.
However if Kai's return comes about, fans certainly would be excited to see how the Saltzman clan would react to him.
