DENVER, COLORADO: In the forthcoming installment of 'Shark Tank', Joshua Thurmond aims to pique the Sharks' interest in Lavabox, his portable campfire fashioned from ammo crates. Before you get introduced to the product on-screen, let us fill you in about the company and its owner.

Josh, a Gaithersburg resident and a 1994 Quince Orchard High School alumnus, is the creator of the LavaBox Portable Campfire, a novel form of portable fire pit designed in a military-style ammo box that was "created to combat climate change and reduce wildfires." Since its birth in late 2020, LavaBox has created waves, or fires, and Thurmond will now take it into the 'Shark Tank' on Friday, March 31 at 8 pm. LavaBox will join other Montgomery County firms that have recently entered the tank. Collars & Co debuted in November, OoogieBear debuted in September, and ShredSkinz debuted in December. What is Lavabox?

The Lavabox is powered by propane, making it exceedingly simple to operate. There's no need to collect firewood, deal with smoke or ashes, or risk starting a wildfire. All Lavabox models have a standard 3/8" flare for simple connections.

Setting up your Lavabox is simple and quick. To begin, make sure the campfire is on a level, sturdy, and non-combustible surface. Remove the top and lid from your preferred Lavabox model and make sure the valves on the gas supply and regulator are turned off. Connect the hose to the firepit and the regulator to the gas source. To fire the first burner hole, test the gas flow with a long lighter. Using the regulator, adjust the fire height.

Fire and safety bans

Lavabox typically fulfills or exceeds the standards of Stage 1 and Stage 2 fire restrictions. However, before using your Lavabox, please check with local law enforcement regarding fire regulations. Never leave the Lavabox alone, and only adults should use it. Make certain that it is utilized in a well-ventilated outside location and that it is put on a hard, nonflammable surface.

Cooking and consumption of fuel

Depending on the flame height, a tabletop model will run for 12–16 hours on a 10LB propane tank. You may use the specially built Over/Under Grill Thingy or your own raised grill to cook on your Lavabox. For optimal ventilation, leave 1–2 inches between the ammunition can and your cookware.

Who is the founder of Lavabox?

Josh is the company's creator and CEO; he founded it in August 2020. This company's Chief Fire Officer is Sylvia Thurmond.

Josh created LavaBox after earning a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver. He is also in charge of ensuring that every LavaBox is delivered to you. When he isn't constructing LavaBoxes, he works at the National Sports Center for the Disabled, where he creates outdoor adventure programs for persons with impairments. He also volunteers for Team River Runner and serves on the Colorado Whitewater Association's Board of Directors. Needless to say, if you're searching for him, he'll be surfing his SUP or doing enders on a nice eddyline. For short years, he was also the Director of Client Services at Handbid.

Sylvia works for the City and County of Denver as a Forensic DNA Analyst and has been doing this work for almost 30 years. She began working as a DNA analyzer after graduating from George Washington University with an MFS in Forensic Molecular Biology. She has worked at a variety of companies, including The Bode Technology Group and the Denver Police Department Crime Laboratory.

What is the cost and where to buy Lavabox from?

LavaBox is a movable Campfire with an ammunition box form that is patent filed. This product is primarily made of three components. Can Box, Burt Tank, Hose, and Regulator are all included. If any type of preparation is to be done, Hades stones can also be used as a supplement. This firepit can be used to cook a variety of foods. It is not advised to firewood in this box because it may damage the paint.

This LavaBox is offered in a variety of versions. Tabletop Vol-CAN-no is $199, Tacana Twosome is $299, Krakatoa FireBreather is $349, and Hekla is $329. This product is offered in 21 retail locations across the United States as well as on the company's website.

The product has received numerous positive feedback from customers. One of the reviews on the website reads, "This thing sizzles! Couldn't be happier with this little hot mamma! Nothing like having a fire without any of the hassles. Literally, plug and play! It's as if the ease of the digital world collided with the rugged manliness of an analog fire. Imagine a neanderthal using a smartphone. Yep, that's what it's like having a lava box in your quiver. If Darwin was still alive he would have a lava box and that's not speculation, it's just SCIENCE!"

Where is Lavabox now?

According to the company's LinkedIn page, it was founded in August 2020. This business had very excellent sales in its first year, and individuals had many recommendations for this product. In addition, the company sells a variety of accessories. Your own propane tank is required. Lavabox is available at 21 independent retailers, the majority of which are located in Colorado, as well as on the company's website. The company had sold over 4,000 units as of August 2022, but he's having trouble keeping up with his orders and has had to periodically go into "pre-order mode." He's probably looking for a Shark's assistance with this.

Lavabox Portable Campfire is dedicated to environmental protection and will contribute $1 for every purchase to Protect Our Rivers. You are actively helping river health conservation, education, and access efforts by buying a Lavabox. As of March 2023, this product is only available in the United States, with intentions to expand to Europe, Asia, and other regions in the near future.

Who will steal the deal?

Shark Kevin O'Leary believes that "camping sucks," so unless Joshua's sales skyrocket, he'll be out. Shark Lori Greiner will probably decline as well because she isn't into outdoorsy activities. That leaves Daniel Lubetzky, Daymond John, and Mark Cuban as the remaining Sharks. Joshua, on the other hand, may come away with a contract. The Sharks will most likely find out that he hasn't spent any money on promotion. Those 4,000+ purchases came entirely from social media posts by satisfied customers. Mark and Daymond are expected to make bids, as is Daniel.
