NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On Wednesday, October 4, after former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was voted out and opted not to run again, it was reported that some lawmakers are already proposing strategies for bipartisan cooperation to help Congress overcome its current challenges and move forward.

McCarthy was removed, with a 216-210 vote tally, as eight Republican representatives united with Democrats to pass a “motion to vacate” and terminated his run as House Speaker.

Following this event, Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared her views on GOP Reps worrying about the next speaker.

However, the Internet didn’t respond well to Ingraham’s tweet as she faced backlash from several people saying, “you’re irrelevant.”

Laura Ingraham reports on GOP Reps concerns about finding a successor

Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham took to X and wrote, “Whoops.  What if, after the post-McCarthy dust settles, Dems end up having more power? House members float bipartisan deals after McCarthy goes down.”

According to Axios, House Financial Services Chair Patrick McHenry has been appointed as the interim speaker. However, McCarthy’s ousting has set off a scramble among Republicans to find a successor.

Concerns are rising among Republicans that the influential right-wing faction within the party may resist unifying behind any candidate, leaving the bipartisan option as a crucial backup plan.

With the ability for any member to initiate a motion to vacate, which aims to remove the speaker, a small but determined group of hardliners effectively wields veto power over the selection of a new leader.

In this regard, one moderate House Republican said to members who voted out McCarthy, “My advice ... is to cut a deal with the Dems and stick [it] to the nitwits.”

Rep Don Bacon also sought to find consensus with his Democrat colleagues, saying, “I would recommend seeking a more bipartisan way forward. We need to make some rules changes, no doubt about it. We need to make these eight [McCarthy rebels] irrelevant."

A moderate Democrat has told Axios that a bipartisan solution might involve selecting a moderate institutionalist such as House Rules Committee Chair Tom Cole. Another name that has been proposed is House Minority Whip Tom Emmer, a Republican from Minnesota.

Internet calls out Laura Ingraham on her fears

Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham’s fear of Dems getting "more power" following Kevin McCarthy’s ouster has led to netizens castigating her for her take on the situation.

One person wrote, “Whoops, what if you stopped fear mongering? Maybe you could gain some viewers.”

One more added, “Your (sic) irrelevant,” and another said, “What if they don’t? Are you just pushing more Fox news crap?”

A person simply wrote, “Hey laura, You've been exposed...you annoying hack! North is still north!”

One person called out Ingraham saying, “They already own you!!!” and another added, “This is just another distraction, Democrats will have the exact same amount of power they had before. It's a game. It's all for show.”
