'LA's Finest' Season 2: Meet Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, Ernie Hudson and rest of the cast of Spectrum show
Agents Syd Burnett and Nancy McKenna are returning as the 'LA's Finest' to stop and solve crime. Reprising their roles for Season 2 of Spectrum's premium content show under the banner of exclusive programming, Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba must team up despite the rifts they nurse.
In the second season of the offshoot of the 'Bad Boys' series created by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier based on George Gallo's work, things are going to get even more real and violent, but they'll get dramatic first. As Syd mourns the sudden loss of a friend, she struggles to find answers. At the same time, McKenna must deal with the aftermath of Izzy's kidnapping and the rift it has left in her marriage. But the 'LA's Finest' have their hands full with crime too. According to the official synopsis, "when a powerful crimewave in Koreatown threatens to destroy the community, Syd, McKenna and the team must find those responsible before it's too late".
Union, when speaking about the show in April, said how audiences can expect "more comedy, more action, juicy mysteries to solve" in the upcoming Season 2. All 13 episodes of the second season will release on Spectrum on Wednesday, September 9 (Fox will begin airing Season 1 from Monday, September 21, 2020, onwards). But before that, meet the cast that is returning to the show.
Gabrielle Union as Sydney 'Syd' Burnett
Union plays the role of Syd, an ex-DEA agent, transferred to LAPD. Syd is the sister of Marcus Burnett from the 'Bad Boys' movies. Season 2 will see things get very dramatic very soon for Syd. How will she find the way out? The actress requires no introduction. She is known for her supporting roles in 'She's All That' and '10 Things I Hate About You', following which she delivered a breakthrough performance in 'Bring It On'. Union's work in the series 'Being Mary Jane', earned her an NAACP Image Award. Her work in 'Almost Christmas' and 'Sleepless' is also well-known.
Union is more than an actress. She wrote the memoir 'We're Going to Need More Wine' in 2017 and a children's book, 'Welcome to the Party', which went on sale in the midst of the pandemic in May 2020. She is an activist who works on issues around women's health and violence against women.
Jessica Alba as Nancy McKenna
As Nancy, Alba plays the role of a stepmother and secret former career criminal. The actress is no stranger to the commercial success with movies and series, including 'Fantastic Four' and the successive 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer', 'Valentine's Day', 'The Eye', 'Little Fockers', 'Mechanic: Resurrection' and 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For'.
Ryan McPartlin as Dr Patrick McKenna
As Dr Patrick McKenna, Ryan plays the role of Nancy's husband and a Los Angeles district attorney. The actor is best known for his role as Devon "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb on 'Chuck' and for playing an affair with January Jones's character Betty Draper on 'Mad Men'.
Sophie Reynolds as Isabel Izzy McKenna
Reynolds plays the role of Nancy's stepdaughter and Patrick's daughter, Izzy. Over the course of the story so far, she hasn't had an amicable relationship with her stepmother. Going by the looks of the upcoming Season 2, there's hardly a doubt that their relationship is going to play an important part in Nancy's character arc.
Ernie Hudson as Joseph Burnett
As Joseph, Hudson plays the role of Syd's estranged father and an ex-LAPD cop. Hudson is known for his work in 'Grace and Frankie', 'Twin Peaks', 'Robot Chicken', 'Angie Tribeca', 'Lethal Weapon', 'Arrow' and 'Graves'. He is set to reprise his role as Winston in the 2021 movie 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife'.
Apart from the cast regulars, the series also stars Duane Martin as Ben Baines, Zach Gilford as Ben Walker, Barry Sloane as Dante Sherman, Zach McGowan as Raymond 'Ray' Sherman, Jake Busey as Bishop Duvall, Rebecca Budig as Carlene Hart, Laz Alonso as Warren Hendrix, Tamala Jones as Katherine Vaughn Miller, Ciara Riley Wilson as Letti Ramirez, Jordan Rodrigues as Arlo Bates, John Salley as Fletcher, David Fumero as Lt Jason Calloway, Sabina Gadecki as Jennifer "Jen" Stryker, Adam Rose as Nathan Baker, Taylor Black as Emma Mitchell, Kurt Yaeger as Clete Winslow and Joshua Alba as Nico Perez.
