'Knives Out': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and everything you need to know about the Daniel Craig, Chris Evans starrer

A modern take on the quintessential murder mystery, 'Knives Out' has been written and directed by Rian Johnson. The film boasts of a glamorous star cast, including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.

Release date

The upcoming 2019 mystery film 'Knives Out' is scheduled for release on November 27, 2019, by Lionsgate.

Plot

 

The movie 'Knives Out' puts the spotlight on the inside life of a dysfunctional family. All hell breaks loose when the family's patriarch, renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), is found dead at the family estate. As the unfortunate incident occurs just after his 85th birthday, the charming detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's untimely death.

Daniel Craig plays the role of the inquisitive detective Benoit Blanc who tries to solve the mystery behind the sudden demise of renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey. The actor achieved immense popularity ever since he was chosen to be the sixth actor to play Ian Fleming's British secret agent James Bond in the film series, taking over from Pierce Brosnan in 2005.

Chris Evans plays the role of a foul-mouthed Ransom Thrombrey. The actor joined the cast in early October. Reportedly, it was just the day after he bid goodbye to his run as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The 'Blade Runner' fame actress plays the role of Marta in the movie.

Curtis will be seen playing Linda Thrombrey, Harlan's daughter. The American actress, author, and activist made her film debut in the film 'Halloween'. She received a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for 'Trading Places' (1983).

Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer are some other big names to be seen in the murder mystery.

Rian Craig Johnson is back in the direction arena after facing backlash for his latest Star Wars outing, 'The Last Jedi'. The American filmmaker and television director is known for writing and directing the neo-noir mystery film 'Brick', the comedy-drama film 'The Brothers Bloom' and the science fiction thriller 'Looper'.

Johnson has also penned down the script. His writing came as a surprise to distributors ahead of the Toronto International Film Festival where it was left open to buyers. Later, Independent studio Media Rights Capital acquired world rights for 'Knives Out'. Johnson is also producing the movie alongside his longtime partner Ram Bergman. Lionsgate is set to distribute the film worldwide.

Trailers

The official trailer of 'Knives Out' just dropped out and it gives a glimpse into the life of a dysfunctional family. The 2.18-minute clip shows how someone is dead at a family estate and detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is called to solve the case.
