'Killing Eve' Season 3: Will Eve and Villanelle finally kiss this time? Here's when fans think it will happen

From '0.23 seconds into the premiere' to some pretty intense distaste for the kiss to ever happen, fans are losing it three days before the show drops on BBC America

On the surface, the BBC America series 'Killing Eve' might be your regular spy thriller with the MI6 in London trying to dig deep into a murderous organization called The 12.

But at its core, the show is about this unique cat and mouse chase turned love story between MI6 agent Eve Polastri and her Russian assassin target, Codename: Villanelle, with the two of them already attempting to kill each other twice.

And now, as we wait with bated breath on the brink of Season 3, fans are speculating how long it will take for Eve and Villanelle to cave in to their feelings and actually kiss.

Right from the very pilot Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer's stellar chemistry as Eve and Villanelle has sparked viewers' intrigue and kept them hooked to the tale of the married agent and target assassin.

Over time, we saw Eve become so obsessed with catching Villanelle than even her husband Niko Polastri began doubting the sanctity of their own marriage to the point where, in Season 2, he broke up with her when Villanelle began teasing and mocking Eve with her presence.

Eve has tried her hardest to deny these latent but legitimate feelings she has for Villanelle, and only indulged in it full-fledged when using Villanelle's expertise as a professional assassin with a penchant for disguise became crucial for solving another murder in town.

Kind of selfish — probably why Villanelle, who has always been quite vocal and nonchalant about her feelings for Eve, decided to fire a bullet at her chest at the end of the second season.

The answer to the cliffhanger is here: Eve is alive and well, and as usual, Villanelle is going to return at one point or the other to finish what she had started.

However, all that added tension between the two had only spurred fans to speculate when they are going to cave in and gift us with that kiss we are waiting for because for two seasons all they have done is tease.

Things blew up when the show's official Twitter account shared an excerpt from an interview Oh gave, where she teased the upcoming season, saying: "This third season really picks up on a more nihilistic tone where both central characters wake up to an understanding of their lack of choice, of the oppression of having been controlled by an outside force. We can relate it to this time, when we are all isolated and forced to think of the systems we live under."

Trust Oh to always find some sense in whatever crisis the world has been plagued with. And of course, to tease fans enough to have them jumping at the first chance they get to suggest a VillanEve kiss in the series.

Commenting on the post shared by the official account, a fan quipped how right after Eve and Villanelle wake up to the realization that they are being used and controlled for others' pursuits, "they will kiss and forget about everything else."

And while we have no clue how or when this brutal wake-up call will come to both — presumably in the latter half of the season — a fan believes "they kiss .23 seconds in, I don't care what anyone tells me."

Other fans praying that the kiss comes early weren't as rushed, but there were also people in the fandom who mocked others for expecting a kiss at all. Addressing all "Killing Eve fans who think they are gonna kiss when they reunite," a fan shared a clown-gif on Twitter.

And one of them took their distaste to a whole other level, by openly addressing "Dear 'Killing Eve' creators, hire me to write Season 4. My qualifications are as follows: I’m queer so I’ll get the connection, but I also hate 'Killing Eve' stans so I for sure won’t let them kiss. Plus I can think of loads of ways for people to die."

Well, let's leave creative elaborate murder scenes to Villanelle for now, shall we? Plus the thrill is in the wait so here's hoping when that kiss finally comes, it will be everything we've dreamed it to be!

'Killing Eve' Season 3 premieres on April 12 at 9 pm on BBC America.
