Imagining Keanu Reeves as Batman isn't a stretch. He was a bane for baddies as John Wick. If he could kill someone with a pencil, there's a lot more he could do with a Batarang. And he's open to saving Gotham if he gets a chance. In a recent interview with Extra, the 'Matrix' star, who voiced Bruce Wayne in the upcoming 'DC League of Super-Pets,' said he would love to play the billionaire vigilante.

“I love Batman, as a character. I love him in the comic books, in the films, so to get the opportunity to voice, to play Batman was awesome,” Reeves said at the 'Super-Pets' premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday. He was also lavish in his praise for Robert Pattinson's portrayal of the superhero in Matt Reeves' 'The Batman,' which was one of the blockbusters of 2022.

"But there’s … Pattinson’s got Batman right now and he’s doing awesome, so maybe down the road,” he said. Talking about his role in the animated movie, he said, “I have a small part in this film, a bit of a cameo. But even that — just to be a part of a project that [Dwayne] Johnson and Kevin Hart are a part of is awesome, and I got to play Batman."

The official synopsis for the film reads, "Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side in Metropolis. However, when the Man of Steel and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a ragtag group of animals to master their own newfound powers for a rescue mission."

While Reeves is keen to suit up as Batman, he just might have to pip another versatile actor who has played the part in a trilogy. Christian Bale recently said he was keen to return to the role only if Christopher Nolan would return to helm the film. "I had a pact with Chris Nolan,” Bale said in an interview with Screenrant. “We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long," he added. He also added that rumors of him thumbing the role down were false. “Occasionally, people say to me, ‘Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this,” he remarked. “And I’m like, ‘That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that".

'DC League of Super Pets' hits theaters on July 29.
