LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When ‘Game of Thrones’ ended everyone thought if HBO would be able to come out with another show that would turn out to be a worldwide phenomenon. However, the network didn’t take much time in accomplishing that task and introduced viewers to the world of greed and power with ‘Succession’. Now, we know these shows cannot be compared and are really different from each other, but ‘Succession’ kept the ball rolling for HBO and made the network reach greater heights. For 3 seasons, the series has been enthralling the viewers with extraordinary stories, but all good things must come to an end, and it seems the end is quite near for the drama series.

Creator and showrunner Jesse Armstrong has been quite straightforward with how he wants to run the show and what viewers can expect from the show’s fourth season. Season 4 of ‘Succession’ is supposed to be the most explosive one and after the recent comments made by Armstrong, it is also official that Season 4 will also be the show’s last one.

While speaking in an interview with New Yorker, Armstrong revealed that viewers should be ready to bid farewell to their favorite characters because Season 4 is indeed the show’s final outing. The news of ‘Succession’ concluding with the fourth edition won’t come as a surprise to many as HBO boss Casey Bloys had already made it clear that the show will conclude whenever Armstrong wants to.

“It’s been a bit tortured, and I felt unexpectedly nervous about talking to you, because it’s all theoretical until this point, and I have tried to keep it theoretical for a whole number of reasons,” he said. “Who knows about the psychological reasons, but the creative ones were that it felt really useful to not make the final, final decision for ages. You know, there’s a promise in the title of ‘Succession.’ I’ve never thought this could go on forever,” Armstrong said.

As soon as the news of ‘Succession’ ending with Season 4 surfaced online, social media didn’t hold back in requesting Armstrong and HBO to continue their favorite show for one more season. Meanwhile, some said that this is the worst news they have received in the last 48 hours. One of the fans wrote, “Somehow my day has gotten worse.” Another social media user tweeted, “This is the worst news I've received in the past 48 hours.” Another fan wrote, “My heart will end with season 4 of succession.” Another fan tweeted, “I just fell to my knees.”

However, there were many who were happy that the show is getting concluded with Season 4 because they would love the story to end with a bang rather than getting dragged and losing the quality. One of the fans wrote, “This is sad for such an amazing show but they’re smart and know when the time is right, unlike other shows.” Another fan shared, “Bittersweet, don’t want it to end but I also know shows that overstay their welcome start to drag and lose quality.” Another fan tweeted, “Better to go out with people wanting more than to keep going and hurting the show.”

The fourth and final season of ‘Succession’ will be airing exclusively on HBO from March 26, 2023, and will see the story moving forward with the sale of Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgard). The sale has created a division among the Roy family and they are thinking about what will happen to them once the deal is done. Well, it would be a cracker of a season and viewers are surely ready for one final bout.

‘Succession’ has won 13 Primetime Emmys since 2018. The second season of the show received 18 nominations at the Emmys and won 7, including Outstanding Drama Series. Meanwhile, the third season of the HBO garnered 25 noms and won 4, including Outstanding Drama Series.
