LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2023, despite titles like ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ releasing in the same year. While everyone is looking forward to seeing Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge work together, there’s a new addition that will truly change the course of the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise, and yes, we are talking about Mads Mikkelsen.

Mikkelsen is an enigma of sorts when it comes to acting with an extremely diverse range of acting gigs in his career trajectory. He has been in movies like ‘Clash of the Titans’ and ‘Casino Royale.’ He is one actor who can truly embody every villainous trait, so it should come as no shocker that this Danish actor is the newest villain of ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,’ Jürgen Voller, and he is the worst of all; the character, of course.

Meet Jürgen Voller

Mikkelsen is a blessing for ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ in terms of a great villain character for the hero to bounce off. His character of Voller, has been inspired by Wernher von Braun, real-life Nazi-turned-NASA-engineer, Wernher von Braun. It comes as no shocker that Indiana Jones will be fighting Nazis again in the upcoming movie. But Jones might be less easy to vanquish. In an interview with Empire, Mikkelsen has teased his character Voller, “He’s a man who would like to correct some of the mistakes of the past. There is something that could make the world a much better place to live in. He would love to get his hands on it. Indiana Jones wants to get his hands on it as well. And so, we have a story.”

Mikkelsen’s villainous streak continues

Mikkelson is easily one of the best actors out there, who always delivers something extra even if he is playing the part of a boiler-plate villain. Mikkelsen has been a Bond villain, which is one of the most coveted roles an actor or actress can play in Hollywood. Of course, one cannot forget that Mikkelsen has played the role of Hannibal Lecter in the TV series, ‘Hannibal.’ Mikkelson also played the role of Kaecilius in ‘Doctor Strange’ and has truly been a part of some of the biggest franchises in the history of cinema. One can go on and on about Mikkelsen’s talents, but now, ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ will face his wrath as the Nazi called Voller.

‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ will be available in theatres near you from June 30, 2023.
