John Cusack to star in Amazon Prime Video series 'Utopia' as Dr Kevin Christie
Actor John Cusack will be seen in the upcoming Amazon show 'Utopia' in which he will play a series regular. The show is about a group of young adults who are hunted down by a shady organization after they find a graphic novel which seems to have some sort of near-mythical powers. They come to understand that the conspiracies featured in the comics might actually be real and are pulled into some very dangerous situations. Cusack will play the role of Dr. Kevin Christie in the upcoming show.
Cusack is the latest addition to the cast after Rainn Wilson and Sasha Lane, who are set to play the roles of Michael Stearns and Jessica Hyde, respectively. While Cusack has made multiple appearances on television before, this will mark his first starring role in a series. He is well-known for his films 'Say Anything', 'High Fidelity' and others. The television series is based on the British show of the same name. Dennis Kelly’s show inspired the Amazon series, which was ordered for a nine-episode first series.
The series will be co-produced by Endemol Shine North America and Kudos, an Endemol Shine Group U.K. production studio, and Amazon Studios. Kelly will serve as one of the executive producers along with Gillian Flynn, who will also serve as the showrunner for the series. Jessica Rhoades, who previously worked with Flynn on 'Sharp Objects,' will also join as executive producer along with Sharon Hall, Karen Wilson and Diederick Santer. Sharon Levy will oversee the production on behalf of Endemol Shine reported Variety.

The official handle of Amazon Prime Video shared one of media reports regarding the casting decision and commented, "A drama series by #GillianFlynn starring @JohnCusack is an actual utopia, so this works." It is unclear as to when the show will premiere, but the casting of Cusack has created a buzz around the project.
