Why is Jimin getting death threats? Singer becomes target of vile comments after BTS V
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: When it comes to K-pop groups, the only downside with fandoms and stans is preferential treatment of some members over others. In the case of BTS, it is a well-known fact that members of the maknae line, especially Jungkook has a lot of solo fans. The group also suffers from the issue of having toxic shippers be it with the case of Taekook (V and Jungkook), Jikook (Jimin and Jungkook), Namjin (RM and Jin), or Sope (Suga and J-Hope), the fandom is full of fans who ship the boys romantically for their personal interest that often turns into hate for other members in the form of death threats. Over the years, Jimin and V are the two members of the boy group who have had it particularly bad when it comes to death threats.
Over the last few months, V has been the main target of vile death threats on Weverse in the form of images or texts directed at the singer to take his own life. Since the platform is BTS' official fancafe, it can be assumed that the trolls are doing this to get attention from the members. Recently, as of August 17, V started receiving a lot of vile death threats in the form of graphic images from shippers of Jikook (Jimin and Jungkook) asking him to stay away from the two. However, tables seem to have turned now as Taekook (Taehyung/V and Jungkook) fans are sending horrendous threats to Jimin the label, Big Hit Music continues to remain silent about the issue.

Jimin becomes a target of vile death threats
Back in 2017, Jimin was targeted by a sasaeng (stalker fan), Kim Yeoshin aka 'Selja' who threatened to attack the singer during the BTS concert with a gun in order to "eliminate rivals of the boy group EXO". Years after that, Jimin is still the target of death threats, only this time, it comes from trolls that are disguised as fans of the boy group. These shippers of Taekook have started posting graphic images on Weverse to get the attention of BTS members in order to provoke the boys. Similarly, Jikook shippers also were seem making similar posts threatening V over the last week.
For the last few years, HYBE has constantly promised legal action against malicious commenters but fans are yet to see any visible damage done to these trolls. Moreover, fans of Jimin and V assume that these comments that are made on Weverse are very likely to be noticed by the members themselves. ARMYs are worried that Jimin, who has already been limiting his interaction with fans will notice these posts which could affect his mental health. In support of Jimin, fans demand immediate legal action from Big Hit Music as they trend the phrase, 'Protect Jimin' as well as the hashtags like #freejiminfromtaekookers and #freejiminfromarmys on Twitter.
