All girl group Little Mix might have earned fame in the United Kingdom but sadly they could never leave a lasting impression here. However, the group’s former member Jesy Nelson is planning to change all of that as she has now set her eyes on 2021 MTV VMAs. The British crooner, who is all geared up to release her debut single ‘Boyz’ very soon, apparently is very eager to cement her position in the US market.
The 30-year-old crooner’s new solo single also features hip-hop queen Nicki Minaj and taking complete advantage of the collaboration, Jesy is eyeing to hit the stage at the coveted award ceremony all set to take place on Sunday, September 12. Speaking of the mega-event, the award show is returning to New York City’s Barclays Center after a gap of 13 years. 2021 MTV VMAs will also host a live audience at the venue.

A source has divulged exclusive details to The Sun revealing that Jesy’s record label Republic Records is apparently in talks with the producers of the award ceremony. Speaking on the same, an insider stated, “The MTV VMAs is one of the biggest nights in music, watched by millions around the world, so everyone is working hard to get Jesy a performance slot. Nothing has been locked in yet but talks are happening right now and if her team pulls it off, it will be huge.”
The insider continued, “If she pulled off a killer performance, it would show that she is here to take the pop world by storm” adding, “Her label thinks the single will appeal to people in the US as it samples Bad Boy For Life by P Diddy and features Nicki, so putting her in front of those audiences will give her career there a huge boost.” Though VMAs has still not announced Jesy as the official performer of the evening, MEAWW will keep you posted. Jesy’s debut solo track ‘Boyz’ featuring Nicki Minaj is expected to hit the Internet in the first week of September.
Who all are performing at 2021 MTV VMAs?
Speaking of the performances, MTV VMAs recently announced the first round of artistes namely Lorde, Lil Nas X, Camila Cabello, Olivia Rodrigo, and Machine Gun Kelly will be mesmerizing the audience with their chart-topping numbers. Justin Bieber has scored seven nominations this year- the most followed by Megan Thee Stallion with six nods.
The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Drake, and Olivia Rodrigo are some of the other top global icons who will be hoping to take home the Moon Person trophy. Though last year, the event was hosted by Keke Palmer, the show makers are yet to spill the beans on this year’s host. To mark the 40th edition and to honour the victims of the 2001 terror attacks, MTV VMAs roped in Kehinde Wiley to redesign the Moon Person trophy. The renowned award ceremony will be aired at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT on CTV. The show will also be aired simultaneously on CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1, and the CW Network on Sunday, September 12.
