IZ*ONE's Lee Chaeyeon the last member to make solo debut, fans say 'time has come'

Sister Chaeryeong of Itzy fame had hinted that Chaeyeon was currently working on her solo debut album

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: We first got reports from Korean media that Lee Chaeyeon of the disbanded girl group IZ*ONE was finally set to make her solo debut. Sister to Itzy's Chaeryeong, Chaeyeon participated in the K-pop survival show 'Produce 48' by Mnet and was one of the winners in 2018. She ended up debuting in IZ*ONE. Since it was a project group, the girls were promoted only for 2 years before disbanding in 2021.

WIZ*ONEs (IZ*ONE's fans) were heartbroken and proved their loyalty by collecting over $2.6 million for a reunion but unfortunately, it fell through. Most of the members re-debuted in new groups like IVE and Le Sserafim, returned to their original J-pop groups, turned to acting or made their solo debuts. The final member that fans were waiting for was Lee Chaeyeon.

Lee Chaeyeon of IZ*ONE to make solo debut

Lee Chaeyeon returned to her original agency in 2021-- WM Entertainment. The label is home to K-pop groups like Oh My Girl and ONF. However, since they were not planning a new girl group in the near future, IZ*ONE fans were worried about Chaeyeon's music career. She participated in the iconic dance survival show 'Street Woman Fighter', however, it wasn't a happy experience. She was used as clickbait since she had the largest fandom while the participants looked down upon her for being an idol and not a professional dancer. 

Since then, Lee Chaeyeon has been more or less inactive. In the first week of September, she dropped a cover of NewJeans' 'Hype Boy' which went viral. Even her sister, Itzy's Chaeryeong had hinted that Chaeyeon was working on a new album. Well, on September 15, it was confirmed that she was in the last stages of her solo debut and will release her first album probably in mid-October.

'Crying in the club'

Another shared, "Who else is crying in the club rn oh my god, getting all this news of le sserafim comeback + chaeyeon debut FINALLY + all of izone congratulating chaeyeon like…..izone are never going to let us go and they still make me cry until now."

One fan commented, "Chaeyeon is the last member we are all waiting for it's finally happening." With former IZ*ONE members also making a comeback with Le Sserafim in Octber, another fan said, "Praying to all gods to let chaeyeon and ssera girls promotion overlap." One fan tweeted, "CHAEYEON TIME HAS COME LET'S GOOOOOOO!!!!?" Another posted, "SOLOIST LEE CHAEYEON IS COMING YALL."
