IU the first female idol to have Olympic Stadium concert, fans say 'legend making history'

Only six K-pop groups like BTS and EXO and four male Korean singers have performed at the Olympic Stadium in history

IU continues to make history as she has now become the first female K-pop idol to hold a concert at Olympic Stadium in South Korea. Following her return to the silver screen with her Cannes film 'Broker', we are getting idol IU as she finally resumed her solo concert. On July 28, her label EDAM Entertainment announced that IU will hold the solo concert ‘The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun’ in Seoul at the Olympic Main Stadium. It will take place on September 17 and 18 as she celebrates her 14th debut anniversary. 

IU’s last offline concert was ‘Love, Poem’ in 2019 to celebrate her debut anniversary. Fans were overjoyed when she announced the Olympic Stadium concert first in February 2022 only for it to get canceled after the Omicron outbreak with tons of idols testing positive every day. Fortunately, it has now resumed with the concert being titled ‘The Golden Hour’ as IU hopes to be the golden hour for her fans and give the happiest times to them with her concert. She will perform several of her hit singles and also have special stages as Day 2 coincides with her solo debut which was on September 18, 2008.

Fans are impressed with IU’s immense popularity as her 2019 concert had taken place at the KSPO Dome which had a seating capacity of 15k audience. Well, the Olympic Stadium stunned fans as it has almost 70k seating capacity. Fans observed that only six K-pop groups have held solo concerts at the venue including BTS and EXO and male Korean singers like Jo Yong-pil, Lee Seung-hwan, Lee Seung-chul and Lee Moon-sae. Meanwhile, international stars like Michael Jackson, Metallica and Lady Gaga have used it as their Korean stop for their world tours.

‘Queen IU’

Even Knetz who are not fans were impressed as they made comments like, “I’m a muggle, but I really want to go ㅜㅜ Can I get a ticket?ㅜㅜ,” and “I always want to go to IU’s concert once in my life.” One fan tweeted, “It's a big leap from 15k to 70k😍. Queen IU.” Another shared, “It will be easily sold out, too. Ten minutes, give or take.” One fan was proud, “First idol actress to go to cannes for ‘broker’ -first korean female artist to hold a concert at jamsil stadium and it all happened in 2022…debuted 14 years ago & she still hasn’t reached her peak yet, this is IU!!!!”

They also added, “It’s official! IU first korean female artist (female soloists & ggs included) to hold a concert at jamsil olympic stadium called “the golden hour: under the orange sun”. we get 2 days & jamsil stadium capacity is 69,950 seats…a legend making history iktr!” One fan shared, “From holding her 1st solo concert in a university hall to Olympic stadium.” Another loved the concept for the concert, “Iu wearing a train conductor uniform to lead us on her new journey starting with her first concert after a long time and in jamsil stadium, much like how in the lilac mv that had her riding a train as a theme on moving forward, but this time with her on the forefront.”  One fan wrote, “Ain't no one coming close to iu's royal concept concert fits.”
