IU and EXO's Kai 'serve looks' as they stun on Elle's covers as Gucci ambassadors

Fans think that there might be a collaboration between IU and Kai for the magazine’s ‘Reconnect’ project

Looks like Elle Magazine is going all out for their November issue. They have roped in K-pop idols IU and EXO’s Kai to be on the covers. Both of them will have three covers each which mean that six versions will be released of the November edition. Additionally, as brand ambassadors of the luxury fashion house Gucci, IU and Kai will be sporting their latest collections for the photoshoots. This is not the first time that the two idols have collaborated as they previously modelled together for the athleisure brand Blackyak.

With the November edition also marking Elle’s 29th anniversary, they have also introduced a project that is making fans wonder what is in store. Titled ‘Elle Music Project: Reconnect’, fans think that it is a collaboration of sorts between the soloist and the EXO member. Last year’s ‘Reconnect’ project had the single ‘For the gone’ made by Code Kunst, Simon Dominic and Jannabi’s Jung-hoon while actors scouted by Elle were in the music video. And fans hope that something similar takes place for IU and Kai.

As for the November covers, IU donned outfits from the ‘Hacker Project’ which is a sporty look and a sleek glittering suit from Gucci and Balenciaga’s collaborative collection ‘Gucci Aria Collection’. She also embodied the sequined blue dress from the ‘Aria Collection’ that accentuates her doll-like features. In the sneak-peek of her interview, IU talked about her upcoming single ‘Strawberry Moon’. She shared, “I want to make an easy song. I want it to be a song that didn't make anyone think too much/feel sad when they listen to it. I hope this single can be enjoyed in a very comfortable way.”

Gucci is celebrating its 100 years by collaborating with Balenciaga for their Fall/Winter 2021 ‘Aria Collection’. Hence, Kai similarly sports an avant-garde look complete with feathers from the collection for one of the covers. He also dons a sporty look complete with a helmet and a sharp suit with the traditional Gucci pattern for the other two Elle covers. For his interview, he talked about his YouTube series ‘KAIst’ and how he got to “meet various people and learn new aspects.”

The two idols also spoke about their thoughts on how songs can be used to convey one’s emotions. IU shared, “It is the most precious decoration that cannot be replaced by anything else. It makes me a little more humble and objective.” Kai added, “It's more fun to arouse the viewers' diverse thoughts than throwing out a clear concept. Anyway, interpretation is up to you. I want to become an artist who opens a new perspective for people.” The magazine editions and the whole interview will be released in November.

'A masterpiece'

Excited fans have been trending phrases like Gucci, Elle Korea, Kai's real name Kim Jongin and 'IU For Elle Korea' to hype the releases. IU’s fans made posts like, “The heck! Ma'am, I think IU's new job is MODELLING,” “GIRL I'M NOT YOUR POWERFUL SOLDIER, DAMN!” and “IU the women you have become this year is so *fire*.”

One EXO-L tweeted, “THIS IS A MASTERPIECE KIM JONGIN YOU ARE INSANE FOR THIS I WANTED TO SCREAM CRY BAWL MY EYES OUT BUT IM LINING UP FOR MY SECOND DOSE OF PFIZER  ATM AAAAHHHHH THE PAIN.” Another added, “The details, his face, the accessories, his golden skin.. kim jongin, im lost in words to describe you once again istg…” One shared, “Gucci global ambassador kai is the most gorgeous man ever.”

Multi-fans were also excited as they made tweets like, “OMG!!! I don't want to get my hopes up, but are we getting a Kai x IU collab for Elle? OMG!” Another shared, “KAI AND IU FOR THE NOVEMBER COVER OF ELLE KOREA THESE TWO ARE ALWAYS SERVING LOOKS PLEASEE.” “#KAI X #IU is serving y'all! And what Elle Music Project? Are we getting a song collab from these two as well,” said one fan.
