'ISS' is an American sci-fi thriller film featuring Ariana DeBose, Chris Messina, and John Gallagher Jr in leading roles. It is helmed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, an American filmmaker best known for 'Blackfish' (2013) which garnered her a BAFTA nomination for Best Documentary.

'ISS' premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023 followed by a theatrical release in the United States on January 19, 2024. The much-anticipated film is all set to arrive on Apple TV and Prime Video on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

What is the plot of 'ISS'?

The story of 'ISS' takes place in the International Space Station, a confined setting far from Earth. From up and above, the crew notices several massive nuclear explosions wreaking havoc across the United States.

Commander Gordon Barrett gets a message from the US government indicating that the Russian military has launched a nuclear attack on the US. He is then ordered to take control of ISS 'by any means'. However, it seems that the Russians at the ISS have received the same order from their government.

While the tension arises, the station finds itself in danger of falling towards Earth's surface if aid does not arrive within 24 hours. The failing technology and shifting of loyalties build the thrill as they struggle to stay alive while the world is at war.

The official synopsis reads, "Tensions flare in the near future aboard the International Space Station as a worldwide conflict breaks out on Earth. Reeling, the US and Russian astronauts aboard each receive orders from the ground: take control of the station by any means necessary."
