LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ‘Transformers’ movie franchise, known for its explosive actions, stunning visual effects, and larger-than-life robotic characters have amassed a significant fan base. With six movies out there, the seventh installment ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ will sway away the fans with appealing storytelling and nostalgic references. Until now, we’ve seen the war between two factions of alien robots — the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. But in the upcoming sequel, a new threat will unravel, leading to an epic battle on Earth.

Although the ‘Transformers’ movie franchise is primarily been directed by Michael Bay, the sequel released in 2018, ‘Bumblebee’ brought a different approach under the direction of Travis Knight. This prequel garnered positive reviews for its more intimate storytelling and recollection of the original ‘Transformers’ characters. The upcoming ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ will display old and new factions, including Terrorcons, Maximals, and Predacons. It will also pit the deadliest bots in the history of ‘Transformers’ against each other. While the fans are eagerly waiting for the movie release (June 9, 2023), they are also wondering if this sequel after five-long years will resonate with the prequel ‘Bumblebee’ or how will it fit the larger franchise continuity.

How will ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ connects with the ‘Transformers’ franchise?

‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ trailer is released, and it has given its fans a new chapter to the ‘Transformers’ franchise based on the popular ‘Beast Wars’ series in the 1990s. It is a sequel to ‘Bumblebee’. Generally, the reboot approached continuing events from Michael Bay’s films, such as when Optimus Prime came first to Earth. Other than this, other ideas of Bay’s continuity like Bumblebee incorporating an Autobot agent on Earth for decades or with his broken voice are some of the Bay’s inspirations in the movie.

Is ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ rebooting ‘Bumblebee’?

‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ is labeled to be a sequel to ‘Bumblebee’, however, there’s a lot of speculation and rumblings that the film is going to be one of the reboots of the franchise. It is expected that the film might portray the use of time travel devices and alternate futures as a means to make both Bay’s films and ‘Bumblebee’ and ‘Beast Wars’ timelines all part of a huge ‘Transformers’ multiverse. ‘Rise of the Beasts’ highlights the heroic Maximals as an ancient Transformers power that is waking up but they are actually from an alternate future and traveled back in time to prevent an apocalyptic event. Additionally, the Terrorcons in the movie are suspected to be the agents of the darker power, a big-bad transformer, Unicron. At last, the upcoming Beast movie featuring autoboots will be the nexus point that will bring the splendid live-action packed ‘Transformers’ films together and might start on an entirely different timeline going forward.

This can actually be the scenario considering Paramount Pictures has several ‘Transformers’ movie projects in development, and the new pitch in the movie can free up the franchise from having to explain how the projects connect.

‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ will release on June 9, 2023.
