‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2 sets premiere date as Netflix reveals first-look images after two major cast exits
After months of guesswork and a few unexpected exits, ‘Ransom Canyon’ is officially gearing up for its next chapter. Netflix has confirmed through Tudum that Season 2 will arrive on July 23. The update comes after news broke in September 2025 that two familiar faces, Eion Macken (Davis Collins) and Andrew Liner (Reed Collins), would not be returning. Their characters played a central role in the first season. So, their absence is bound to be noticeable in the upcoming installment. For those who tuned in earlier, Season 1 introduced audiences to rivalries between the Kirkland, Collins, and Fuller families, all fighting over land in the Texas Hill Country. The upcoming season trims things slightly, with eight episodes instead of the previous ten.
Alongside the release date, a set of first-look images has also been shared, offering a peek at what’s ahead. Familiar characters are front and center, including Staten Kirkland, played by Josh Duhamel, and Quinn O’Grady, portrayed by Minka Kelly. There are also stills of Lauren Brigman (Lizzy Greene), Lucas Russell (Garrett Wareing), among others. Season 2 does not pick up right where things left off. Instead, the story jumps ahead by about six months, giving characters time to deal with the fallout from earlier events. Staten, for one, is no longer in the position he once held at the Double K Ranch. Losing that role clearly hit hard, and now he is working to rebuild what slipped through his fingers.
Quinn, on the other hand, is dealing with a different kind of push and pull. She finds herself torn between the fast-paced life of New York City and the small hometown she once could not wait to escape. Her relationship with Staten only adds to the situation, as the two try to figure out whether they can make things work despite everything stacked against them. The upcoming episodes will test whether what they have is strong enough to handle pressures, personal doubts, and whatever new problems come their way. Behind the scenes, the series continues to draw from the books by Jodi Thomas, which provide plenty of material for future storylines.
With eight novels in the series, there is no shortage of directions the show could take if it continues beyond this season. April Blair remains in charge as creator and showrunner, while Duhamel and Kelly also contribute as executive producers. Season 2 also brings together a wide group of supporting actors, including Jack Schumacher, Marianly Tejada, Casey W. Johnson, Patricia Clarkson, Ben Robson, Heidi Engerman, Tatanka Means, Justin Johnson Cortez, Philip Winchester, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, and Niko Guardado. As for how the show has been received so far, the response has been somewhat mixed. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds a 45% critics rating alongside a 73% audience score.
