Is Loona not paid since debut? Along with Chuu's Seoul concert absence, fans are angry

Loona's Yeojin shares that she has not been paid since her debut as a K-pop idol

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Loona fans are happy that the girls are finally getting the fame they deserve after rumors of bankruptcy. They had the general public's backing when they came on the survival show 'Queendom 2' with fans being confident that had they not missed round 1 due to Covid-19, Loona would have won. They are also on their first world tour but there have been several obstacles like members falling sick to the extent that only seven of 12 members performed at one venue while member Chuu was absent since day 1. On top of it, it seems that the girls have not been paid their due.

On September 23, while chatting with fans, Loona's Yeojin let it slip that she had not been paid by her label Blockberry. When fans asked her to clarify, she confirmed that she was indeed talking about her earnings since her debut as a K-pop idol. And then a day later, on September 24, Chuu too revealed that she had not been told about their Seoul concert which is why she would probably be absent.

Loona's Yeojin says she has not been paid

We first had Yeojin coming on the K-pop messaging platform Fab and chatting with fans. An Orbit (Loona's fan) said that her bag looked nice and was happy that Yeojin was rich enough to buy herself such a bag. In response, the idol said, "My mom.. gave it to me... I'm not rich... I don't even receive earnings." Fans thought she was joking, to which she added, "It's the truth..?" After talking about her injury a fan then asked, "How long has it been delayed?"

Yeojin responded, "Since debut." Orbits were worried as they asked if she would get scolded for revealing it. The Loona member confessed, "Actually, I'm a little scared.. But what can I do, it's true." Another fan said, "Still it feels like a weight off to hear you tell us." To this Yeojin added, "It feels relieving to me too! That took a lot of courage just now." Fans then joked that if she gets in trouble to say that she was hacked.

Chuu hints at missing Seoul concert

We then had member Chuu being excluded from the Loona world tour including the concerts taking place in their own country. Fans were disheartened when it was first reported that since Chuu was busy with her solo projects, she would not be able to make it to the American, European and Japanese legs of their first world tour. She also did not perform at their first Seoul concert 'Loonaverse: From' in January. Well, on September 24, Chuu said, "[BBC] didn't give me any notice regarding my participation in the afternoon's schedule so it's a shame for me too... I miss you a lot too."

Another member said that BBC had told them about it in their group chat with all 12 members present. Chuu then clarified that she was in the group and knew that the Seoul concert was happening. But she explained, "I feel like my words are getting twisted, so I'm going to say something about this. I'm not saying that I can attend all the schedules just because they're released. The company is the one to decide, so they need to release a notice, then we can decide whether I can participate or not. So even if we get an alarm about the schedule, I don't know whether I can participate or not."

'When is their contract ending?'

Fans were unhappy with such updates as one said, "When is their contract ending? I seriously hope they pull a got7." Another said, "This interaction between fans is hella cute, but I'm really upset at BBC. I want to sue you for not paying the girls properly. It will say BBC cause me emotional damage and induced me to buy merchandise to support Loona but didn't pay out to Loona. Show me the accounting now." A fan of Chuu said, "Why are they doing this to their top earner o don't understand." Another wrote, "I promise you chuu would choose loona over any ad, show, game, whatever. shes made it clear that she didnt know of some loona schedules, theyre leaving her out on purpose and she has to find out on her own. that should tell you more than enough."
