The upcoming HBO miniseries 'Irma Vep' is a remake of Olivier Assayas' 1996 cult film of the same name. The eight-episode series will show the life of Mira, an American movie star, who struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge.

'Irma Vep' premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, and the miniseries will premiere on HBO on June 6, 2022. Written and directed by Olivier Assayas, Alicia Vikander stars in the lead role and also serves as the executive producer of the show. Scroll down to learn more about the star.

Born in Sweden, Vikander started her career at age seven. She appeared in several musicals at the Opera, such as 'The Sound of Music', 'Les Misérables', and even participated in a children's singing show. She is also trained in ballet, however, her dance career was sidelined in her late teens due to injuries. At one point, Vikander was admitted to law school but she never attended, instead she followed her dreams to become an actress.

Vikander received critical acclaim for her film debut, playing the leading role of Katarina in the Swedish film 'Pure' (2010). She garnered widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of painter Gerda Wegener in Tom Hooper's 'The Danish Girl' (2015), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, becoming the second Swedish actress to win this award. Her other movies include 'Testament of Youth' (2014), 'Ex Machina' (2014), 'Jason Bourne' (2016), 'Tomb Raider' (2018), and 'The Green Knight' (2021). In 2016, Forbes included Vikander in its 30 Under 30 list.

Born in Puerto Rico, Adria lived in Mexico City until she was twelve. At age 12, she moved to Miami and lived there until she was 18 when she moved to New York City on her own. In New York, she worked as a waitress and a hostess while studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She has appeared in many films such as 'Pacific Rim: Uprising' (2018), 'Life of the Party' (2018), 'Triple Frontier' (2019), '6 Underground' (2019), and  'Morbius' (2022).



 

Other cast members include Vincent Macaigne, Jeanne Balibar, Lars Eidinger, Vincent Lacoste, Hippolyte Girardot, Alex Descas, Nora Hamzawi and Antoine Reinartz.

'Irma Vep' premieres on HBO on Monday, June 6, 9/8c.
