HBO’s ‘True Detective’ is one of the most polarizing TV shows of this generation. Season 1 received widespread acclaim for its content, going on to receive several Emmy nominations. However, the second edition didn’t receive that much love from the audiences and garnered mixed reviews. That didn’t stop the network from renewing the show for another edition and Season 3 also turned out to be really successful. The show is set to make a comeback for another season on HBO and seems it has already attached a legendary name to it.

The network has revealed that after a prolonged round of negotiations, Jodie Foster, has been tapped to star in the upcoming fourth edition of ‘True Detective’. Although all the additional details about her character are still under wraps, but we know that she will be portraying the role of Detective Liz Danvers on the show.

On the other hand, Mahershala Ali played the lead detective in Season 3.

When does ‘True Detective’ Season 4 release and where can you watch it

The fourth season of the HBO crime thriller doesn’t have a release date yet as the season remains in the development stages. As far as its telecast is concerned, then it will be premiering exclusively on HBO.

What is ‘True Detective’ Season 4 all about?

The official synopsis reads, “When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”

Who stars in Season 4 of the HBO crime thriller?

As of now, Jodie Foster is the only name that has been announced as the member of the cast and she will be playing the role of Detective Liz Danvers. The network hasn’t announced who will be portraying the role of her partner, Detective Evangeline Navarro.

Foster has been a part of the industry for more than five decades and has appeared in many award-winning projects. In 1976, she acted in Martin Scorsese’s epic movie ‘Taxi Driver’ and made an incredible impression on the minds of the people. By the ‘90s, she had already made her way to the top with 2 Academy Awards to her name (‘The Accused’ and ‘Silence of the Lambs’).

Since then, she has been part of some of the biggest movies of this generation and garnered several laurels. 

Showrunners

The upcoming edition of the HBO show will be penned by Issa Lopez and Alan Page Arriaga. Lopez will also be directing multiple episodes for the series, including the pilot.
Lopez, Arriaga, Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, Mark Ceyak, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, and Woody Harrelson serve as executive producers on the show.
