Last year, Hulu and Blumhouse decided to shock, amuse and leave their viewers rattled at the same time with the unnerving reality of Mexican immigrants trying to cross the border for the coveted American dream in 'Into the Dark: Culture Shock'. Pegged on the monthly anthology horror's format, this year, Independence Day is brought to you by 'Into the Dark: The Current Occupant' — a story that focuses on a mad president who thinks he has been stripped off his memory for political agenda. 'Into the Dark: The Current Occupant' will be available for streaming from Friday, July 17, only on Hulu.
Plot
This is the plot according to Deadline, "Trapped in a mysterious psychiatric ward, the episode follows a man with no memory comes to believe that he's the President of the United States and the subject of a diabolical political conspiracy. As the asylum's soul-crushing forces bear down on him, he fights to preserve his sanity and escape so that he can return to power."
Creator
Written by speechwriter-turned-screenwriter Alston Ramsay, the 22nd feature-length installment of the franchise is being directed by Julis Ramsay, who is known for helming episodes of 'The Walking Dead', and Blumhouse's popular series 'The Purge'. Blumhouse, as most might know, is a pioneer in modern-day horror on screen and has gifted avid fanatics of the genre with franchises such as 'Paranormal Activity' and 'Purge'.
Cast
While little is known about the characters, Hulu has announced the official cast of the series. The Loudest Voice's Barry Watson stars as Henry Cameron, Krypton's Sonita Henry as Dr Larson, Kate Cobb from 'Scandal' as Eliza, Crossbones' Ezra Buzzington as the Administrator and Joshua Burge from 'The Revenant' can be seen as the Emperor. Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III and Lilli Birdsell also star in the episode.
