LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: The 2022 Soul Train Music Awards has been recognizing the best in soul, R&B and Hip-Hop music. The ceremony, being hosted by comedian and writer Deon Cole, is airing on BET, BET Her, VH1 and MTV2. Rising R&B group FLO, which is among the performers at the awards, is being hailed on social media for its performance

The group, comprising Jorja, Renée and Stella, was seen performing an acoustic rendition of their viral song 'Cardboard Box'. The anthem is produced by MNEK, and is taken from, FLO’s debut EP, The Lead, which dropped July 8 via Island Records UK/Uptown Records/Republic Records. The EP was reissued in September with 'Not My Job' as a bonus track.

“We’re very proud of [The Lead],” Stella told Rated R&B in an interview. “It encapsulates us being together, being strong and getting through anything. I think that’s a good message we like to put out for the people who listen.” "For me, the EP literally means taking the lead, being strong in all that you do and being a woman," Renée added.

Jorja said of the process of creating 'Cardboard Box', "It was one of our first sessions with MNEK, who is the most talented person in the world. We was just having a conversation — because usually in the beginning of sessions, you just have a chat about what’s going on in your life at that moment in time. I know it was a bit of a rough time for me.” Renée said, "It was like [creating] a happy breakup song. You know you’re going through a situation, but you still wanna feel good about it.”

Twitter is amazed at FLO's performance at the award, with one user saying, "FLO performing cardboard box at the soul train awards and they doing heavenly! the harmonizations!" one user said, while another user wrote, "i’m so proud of you girls. y’all killed it in the soul train pre show! i can’t wait to see you dominate the states and the world".

"Love that they change it up everytime," one user said. Another wrote, "I’m obsessed with them. They never miss the mark". "they’re here to stay," said one user.
