BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: After giving a scintillating performance at the recent Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show, Rihanna has been now roped in to entertain at Oscars 2023. Apparently, the ‘Diamond’ singer is set to enthrall the world with her nominated hit ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther 2.’ The song has an emotional vibe to it since it serves as a tribute to the former actor Chadwick Boseman, who died of colon cancer in August 2020.

"After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I've lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them," said Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, in a press release. She is the co-writer of the song along with Rihanna, Ludwig Göransson, and director Ryan Coogler. "Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor", said Tems.

'Best Original Song'

The 95th Academy Awards is also Rihanna’s first Oscars nomination, however, she already holds nine Grammy wins to date. The other contenders for Best Original Song are David Byrne, Ryan Lott and Mitski for 'This Is a Life' from 'Everything Everywhere All at Once,' M M Keeravani and Chandrabose for 'Naatu Naatu' from RRR, Diane Warren for 'Applause' from 'Tell It Like a Woman' as well as BloodPop and Lady Gaga for 'Hold My Hand' from 'Top Gun: Maverick,' as per People.

'She deserves it'

There were immediate reactions after the Academy announced its live performance of Rihanna officially, one wrote, "Hard Pass after the last show turned out terrible…. Plus, the Oscar nominees. Best picture best whatever. There’s nothing exciting about it. Better films over the ones chosen this year." The second tweeted, "PLEASE GIVE HER THAT OSCAR THE WAY IT WAS DISPLAYED IN THE MOVIE SHE DESERVES IT." One fan shared a gif from the 'RRR' movie, and captioned, "Everyone knows who’s going to win." One excited fan, simply wrote, "Rihannaaaaaaaaaaa gonna grace the Oscars." A fan questioned her nomination, and said, "We know you nominated her for clout after getting the clout you will snub her 😏☹️" One "Naatu Naatu" admirer joked, "What is the use of bringing her and making her work pregnant if we already know that the Oscar will go to Naatu Naatu by RRR 🤡🤡🙄"
