The celebrities include Sean Penn, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Cage, Ozzy Osbourne, Tommy Lee, Slash, Charlie Sheen, Steven Seagal, Emma Roberts, Carmen Electra, Christian Slater, Josh Brolin, Tom Sizemore, James Cann, Vince Neil, and Micky Rourke. Penn was accused of domestic violence towards his ex-wife Madonna. He allegedly caused the pop superstar to be hospitalized after hitting her across the head with a baseball bat, as per The Daily Beast. Mel Gibson was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence in a 2010 incident involving his former girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, as per Entertainment Weekly.
Cage was arrested in 2020 on the grounds of domestic abuse along with disturbing the peace and public drunkenness after an altercation with his wife, Alice Kim. “[Cage] and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed, and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address. There were no visible signs of injury on his wife’s arm. The actor began striking vehicles and later attempted to get into a taxi. At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by onlookers drove up on the couple, immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated, and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-Up," said an official statement per Entertainment Weekly.
Osbourne also has a history of domestic violence and was arrested for attempting to kill his wife Sharon Osbourne in 1989 in a drug-filled rage. Lee was sent to jail to serve a six-month term in a felony spousal abuse case, as per AP. Slash was arrested in 1999 for allegedly assaulting his estranged girlfriend, as per MTV. Sheen was charged with second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief against his wife, Brooke Mueller, as per ABC. Slater was arrested in 1997 for punching his girlfriend Michelle Jonas and assaulting a police officer while abusing heroin, cocaine, and alcohol. Brolin was arrested for a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery for beating up his ex-wife, Diane Lane. While answering a question regarding this incident, Brolin once said, “God, I’ve never been so careful with my words. Ever. Maybe in all 50 years. And there’s no reason for me to be other than there’s no explaining it. Do you know what I mean? The only person who can explain that would be Diane, and she’s chosen not to, so I’m O.K. with that," as per Indie Wire.
Further, Sizemore was arrested in 2003 for physically abusing his then-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss and was sentenced to six months in jail. On the other hand, although Cann was not arrested on the grounds of domestic violence, he had a history of beating up his wives and ex-girlfriends. Neil was arrested in 2011 for committing a crime by, "forcing his way into the Shimmer lounge [at the Las Vegas Hilton] while a performance was occurring" .... and poked three people with his right index finger ... each time stating the words, "f**k you," as per TMZ. Rourke was also arrested on the grounds of domestic violence for beating his wife, Carre Ottis in 1994.
