'ICONIC!' Fans adore Jamie Lee Curtis after she calls herself a 'Nepo Baby' at SAG Awards 2023
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 2023 SAG Awards had all the sparkle and shimmer it needed, with many amazing moments from the show. One particular moment was when Jamie Lee Curtis, to the amazement of everyone in the audience, acknowledged herself as a "Nepo Baby" during the show's traditional 'I am an actor' opening segment.
Curtis was one of the nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role in the 2022 marvel 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'. Her fellow cast memebrs, Ke Huy Quan, Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Hsu, also received nominations for the sci-fi fantasy. The movie has become one of the most celebrated films of 2022, with two Golden Globes awards and 11 Oscar nominations.

'Nepo-Baby'
Curtis was among the actors to give an introduction during the said segment. She told the crowd about how she got her first SAG Card when she was 19 when she signed a seven-year contract with Universal Studios for a short-lived ABC series called 'Operation Petticoat'. She went on to say that the series was based on the movie in which her father, Tony, starred in. And to everyone's surprise, she acknowledged that she was a "Nepo baby" and added she was fired from that TV show. This acknowledgement from her gained a round of laughs from the crowd. She also admitted that it led to her taking on a role in the horror movie 'Halloween', which changed her life.

Curtis went on to win an award for her role as Deirdre Beaubeirdre, an IRS inspector and playing several other versions of Deirdre in alternate universes in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'. Other nominees in the category were Angela Bassett for 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', Hong Chau for 'The Whale', Kerry Condon for 'The Banshees of Inisherin' and Hsu for 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'.
