MILLEDGEVILLE, GEORGIA: Mama June Shannon was recently sued by her late daughter Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell's ex-husband Michael as he wanted the full custody of his stepdaughter Kaitlyn Elizabeth. He is currently taking care of his daughter, Kylee Madison.
However, the Georgia court has reportedly a "temporary" custody of Kaitlyn to June after the legal filing. A Reddit user shared a thread and noted that June was "granted temporary emergency custody of Kaitlyn today."

Anna Cardwell's ex-husband, Michael Cardwell has been a consistent part of Kaitlyn Elizabeth's life since she was an infant. However, he recently filed a lawsuit in Georgia court against Mama June for custody of the 11-year-old after Anna's death from cancer at 29.
Meanwhile, according to the court documents, Michael explained that he has been a father figure for Kaitlyn "even years after his divorce" from Anna in May 2020. He also revealed that he is currently funding Kaitlyn's tuition at a Christian academy in Irvington, Georgia.
Meanwhile, the tuition rate sheet for the academy for the 2023-2024 school year indicates a total cost of $325 per student, inclusive of registration fees. The annual tuition alone is $3870, equivalent to $90 per week.

Anna Cardwell died on December 9 after she lost the battle with cancer. However, Anna's daughters Kaitlyn and Kylee were seemingly the most affected by their mother's death.
As the family has been grieving the loss, Mama June has been considering Kaitlyn and Kylee to send them to talk with therapists. According to TMZ, Kaitlyn had been the most affected by the loss and had no intention of speaking at her mom's funeral.
However, despite the hard time, Kaitlyn shared memories of her time with Anna, some of which brought laughs during the funeral. After Kaitlyn was able to open up and reflect at the funeral, June's family considered the benefits of having her talk with a therapist.
