Spoiler alert for 'Hunters' Episode 5

To succumb to follow a path for the greater good is what Jonah Heidelbaum ended up doing in 'Hunters' Episode 5. He ended up getting more involved in the mission after his last assignment, which in many ways educated him about his grandmother's past and the millions of Jewish people who were killed. Now, he has to prove that he is ready to be a part of the Hunters.

Meyer Offerman has arranged for Jonah to take self-defense lessons from Joe, and as the latter progresses to get deeply involved in their assignments and missions, he is also told another story of Ruth and Meyer. This is in continuation of Jonah's learning of how Ruth had felt when she had led Dr Wolf's attention to Meyer by rejecting the offer of being his assistant. After that, Meyer explains how he was taken into a torture chamber and weapons that were used to break military men were used on.

He said, "He made sure I couldn't run" and we see visuals of Dr Wolf busting Meyer's kneecaps. We also see him use a weapon, which when used leaves marks on the skin as if the one tortured was mauled by a claw. He recalls how the session lasted nine hours, every second of which Meyer had counted down in his head.

He finally shows the scars from the day to Jonah and asks him to make a promise. "Promise me that you won't let what's inside you stop you from doing what's difficult." Considering what awaits in Jonah's future, this is an advice that Jonah had to take with a pinch of salt. One misstep of his could lead to losing his life or limbs. As the next step of being initiated into the group, Jonah is asked to break away from his friends to ensure that there are not in danger from Nazis. Sister Harriet reminds Jonah of what happened to Arthur and convinces him to cut off from his neighborhood friend as well.

She says, "A lone wolf is dangerous because it has no pack. Nothing to protect. Nothing to lose," and before she could complete her thought, Jonah wonder, "Easier?" She then responds, "No. Harder. A lot harder." Jonah, now has no one to turn to and he can only depend on this insane bunch of people who hunt Nazis, but he has now succumbed. He believes in the cause and understands why certain things need to be done. Will he able to mete out punishment like Joe, Lonny Flash or Sister Harriet? That is the million-dollar question.

The episode also sees Meyer try to flush out one Dr Oscar from hiding and while researching on this sick Nazi who doled out punishments to Jews as if they weren't humans. With Sister Harriet, Mindy and Murray's help the team figures out that if they can smoke out one doctor who lives in Alabama and a political analyst who works with top-rung politicians in Hunstville; they might have a shot at capturing Oscar. Thing's don't work out as expected and in the end, we have Roxy, Lonny and Meyer in Hunstville to talk to Karen, who they believe is a Nazi while Joe, Sister Harriet, and Jonah head out to Alabama. The stench of betrayal, when Sister Harriet ends up torturing a doctor, who claims to be a changed man, is over the charts.

Upon hearing the story of the Nazi doctor under their care, it comes to light that the Nazi war criminals were wanted by both the US and the Soviet Union. When he is asked why he sneaked into the US, he explains further that he had never snuck in, but was welcomed with a red carpet rolled out on arrival. He added that it was not just him, but others who had worked with him in his Auschwitz lab were also present in Alabama. He explains to Harriet, Joe and Jonah that he and his German friends are not the same anymore and adds that it was the German technology, their biology and their knowledge that had taken the US to the Moon.

All of them have an expression of disdain, but Harriet continues to torture him into revealing the name of others who are living under aliases. Once she has all the information, Harriet decided to kill him despite him not being on the list. When Joe tries to stop her, saying the man wasn't on the list; Harriet says, "I have my own list."

Meanwhile, in Hunstville, Meyer Roxy and Lonny seem to be feeding manure to political analyst Karen in her house. Meyer is convinced that Karen knows something about the whereabouts of Ghost and to get everything out of her, he continues to feed her sh*t every day until she confesses to her connections to Nazi.

She is tortured for a few hours after which Karen addressed Meyer and told him that he is the biggest of the charlatans she knew and continues to observe how he was a liar and a cheat. Before she could end her sentence or complete it, however, Meyer shoots her dead and it is this particular exchange that hints at a huge reveal set to take place in upcoming episodes. What is Meyer hiding? Now that Jonah has seen first hand what his future might hold, will he back off or will he continue the fight? And how will Meyer's secret affect Jonah?
