Al Pacino in ‘Hunters’ is the reason why Amazon Prime show should be on your must watch list
We can never get enough of this ‘Godfather’ star, ever, can we?
Iconic method actor and winner of the Triple Crown of Acting, Al Pacino is not just a name but a legend in himself. Watching him act is not entertainment, it’s an experience. And now, once again, we would be privileged to experience the great thespian’s work with ‘Hunters’, releasing this February.
Said to be one of the most-anticipated shows of the year, ‘Hunters’ will see Pacino debuting on a web series. Whether it’s the character that he plays or the story that he tells us, he is the driving force of ‘Hunters’. Or at least we want to believe that.
Before we dive into Pacino’s character, here’s a quick run through the plot. ‘Hunters’ follows a team of Nazi hunters in 1977 New York City. Post the Second World War, and Hitler’s death, Nazi officials had spread across various parts of the globe, with the agenda of creating a Fourth Reich, until Meyer Offerman and his friends start a secret association to hunt down the Nazis and eliminate them.
Pacino plays Offerman, the head of the group and the leader of the movement, where he enlists the sneakiest, wittiest, and the niftiest of New York City’s best. A Holocaust survivor, Offerman has stood the test of time, watching his loved ones perish and consequently swearing to take down the system that created the darkest chapter of modern history. Offerman then encounters his friend’s grandson, Jonah, a young Jewish boy, who loses his grandmother in a mysterious murder. Knowing about Jonah’s past, Offerman decides to recruit him as his next in the team and thus the quest for justice begins.
We have seen Pacino as a toughened cop, a distressed field agent, a father and a son, lost in existential crisis, and more. But never as a Nazi hunter or even the leader of an underground gang! It will indeed be a fascinating ride to see the great actor in a never-seen-before role.
The 10-episode limited series will also star Logan Lerman as Jonah Heidelbaum, Kate Mulvany as Sister Harriet, Tiffany Boone as Roxy Jones, Carol Kane as Mindy Markowitz, Saul Rubinek as Murray Markowitz, Josh Radnor as Lonny Flash, Louis Ozawa Changchien as Joe Torrance, Jerrika Hinton as Millie Malone, Greg Austin as Travis Leich, Dylan Baker as Biff Simpson, and Lena Olin as The Colonel.
With Jordan Peele as the mind behind the show and the stellar ensemble cast, 'Hunters' promises nothing less than fireworks on a night!
While you wait for the series to drop on Amazon, take a peek into the preview, which has the ominous 'Psycho Killer' by the Talking Heads as its background.
'Hunters' premieres on Amazon Prime, on February 21.
