Is the classic cliffhanging tension of ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ coming to an end or surmounting? This is a question we keep asking every episode, especially as the final season (6) almost inches towards its curtain call. And throughout the season, from her death to escaping murder, we have contemplated and speculated varied scenarios and possibilities for Annalise Keating.

But as quintessential to the show, our assumptions get broken all over again as Episode 9 trailer reveals otherwise. The promo shows Annalise in a holding cell at a police station, while her students are shocked at the news of a “murder conspiracy” at Middleton University. Meanwhile, the promo also drops a scene showing Nate confronting Annalise, accusing her and reminding her that it’s payback time. Then there are glimpses of blood spatter, shock-stricken faces of Michaela, Connor, Asher, and Oliver, and Annalise holding a gun. If we add up all the pieces of the puzzle, it is not so difficult to draw the entire picture.

So, here lies our analysis: Nate isn’t quite happy with DA Ronald Miller not being convicted of killing his father. Somehow during the investigations, perhaps more secrets come out about Annalise, Nate, Bonnie, Frank, and K5. And in the process of saving herself and her students, Annalise makes Nate the scapegoat. This makes Nate so angry that he confronts her.

In her defense, Annalise ends up shooting Nate. If we also add the pieces of flash-forwards from the last episode, we will see that Annalise is all set to escape town, after her apartment becomes a crime scene of a sort. There’s blood spatter on walls, floor, glass shards, and broken furniture, and a fire poker with bloodstain. Adding that to the trailer of Episode 9 makes the picture clear and we can’t stop assuming that Nate will be the one to get killed at last.

The fall finale promises a powerful and blood-pumping episode with more mayhem than we could have expected so far. Watch the promo below:
