All 10 seasons of 'Stargate SG-1' head back to Netflix US after 3 years — here's when you can stream it
After a multi-year absence, 'Stargate SG-1' is officially returning to Netflix under a newly struck licensing agreement between the streamer and MGM, now owned by Amazon. According to reporting from What's on Netflix, all ten seasons of the science-fiction series will soon be available again for subscribers in the United States and select international territories. The return marks a major win for Netflix's early 2026 lineup and a nostalgic moment for sci-fi fans. Often ranked alongside 'Star Trek' and 'Doctor Who' for its unique plot, world-building, and rewatch value, 'SG-1' remains one of the most influential genre series of the modern television era.
Netflix US will add seasons 1 through 10 of 'Stargate SG-1' on February 15, 2026, with availability also confirmed in several international regions. The United Kingdom and parts of Latin America are included in the rollout. Additional territories may still be announced closer to launch. For newcomers, 'Stargate SG-1' continues the story introduced in Roland Emmerich's 1994 film 'Stargate'. The series follows Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) and his team, including archaeologist Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), astrophysicist Major Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), and former enemy-turned-ally Teal'c (Christopher Judge).
Together, they travel across the galaxy using an ancient alien portal known as the Stargate. Longtime Netflix subscribers may remember that 'SG-1' previously lived on the platform. The show returned to Netflix US in late 2020, but was removed on December 1, 2022, after Amazon completed its acquisition of MGM and began consolidating much of the studio's catalog under Prime Video. At the time, many assumed Netflix's relationship with the franchise had ended for good. Clearly, that assumption didn't hold. For now, the new agreement covers only 'Stargate SG-1'.
Its spin-offs, 'Stargate Atlantis' and 'Stargate Universe', remain exclusive to Prime Video, with some regional availability on Pluto TV. However, fans wouldn't be surprised if those series eventually follow 'SG-1' back to Netflix. Also, an Amazon representative recently confirmed that several MGM-produced series are heading to Netflix in both the U.S. and international markets. That rollout has already begun, with 'Hunters' arriving in the U.S. and 'Fargo' becoming available in select territories in December. 'The Man in the High Castle' is also reportedly on the way, though its Netflix debut date has yet to be announced.
On the film side, MGM titles like the James Bond collection and 'Legally Blonde' have also been making their way to Netflix in various regions. Adding to that slate, Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Licorice Pizza' is now confirmed to arrive on Netflix U.S. in January 2026. Interestingly, Netflix once came close to reviving 'Stargate' itself. Years ago, it was reported that the streamer was in early talks to develop a reboot before Amazon's MGM acquisition effectively halted the project. That revival is now moving forward at Prime Video instead, with 'Stargate' creator Martin Gero attached to lead the new series, as confirmed by Variety.
