‘XO, Kitty’ Season 3 leaves fans floored with Lara Jean–Peter Kavinsky ending twist: 'this is NOT...'
This story contains spoilers.
Every romantic relationship has its fair share of highs and lows, and the relationship between Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky is no different. The dynamic couple was at the center of the 'To All The Boys I've Loved' films, by the end of which the two had to take up different careers in New York and California, thus beginning a new chapter of their lives as a long-distance couple. With Peter going to Stanford and Lara Jean taking a job in NYC, it seemed for a while that things were probably headed in the right direction for the couple.
The recently released third season of 'XO, Kitty' saw Lara Jean visit her sister, Kitty, in Seoul, South Korea. During her visit, Jean revealed that her relationship with Peter was going through a rough patch. The topic came up during Kitty's visit to New York, where she spent the summer with Jean while simultaneously preparing for her senior year. The opportunity to be close to her sister was exciting for Kitty; however, she was a bit put off to learn that her relationship with Peter wasn't going well. The real reason for discord might very well be the passage of time. Fans of the couple were, in any case, heartbroken to know about their breakup and voiced their opinions on X. One user commented, "They had a good conclusion to their story why would they ruin that." Another user wrote, "this doesn't affect me because in my head they'll always be together". A third user declared, "this is NOT what the fans want to see".
As of 'XO, Kitty' Season 3, both Kavinsky and Jean are approximately 23 years old. Lara Jean took a job as an assistant editor at a publishing house right after college. She told her sister she had finally finished one of her own manuscripts and added that being single had enabled her to devote much of her time to her passion project. Things eventually take another turn by the time she visits Kitty in Seoul. While Kitty insists that things will soon be all right between her sister and Peter, Jean isn't all that optimistic. Nevertheless, the very fact that the two sisters were able to voice their honest opinions to each other.
Lara Jean and Peter have appeared at several points in 'XO, Kitty' and have always come across as two people willing to work out their differences. Even when they were visiting Kitty in Seoul at different times, they were honest about their feelings. Thereafter, making their relationship more complicated to a certain degree plays out really well for the rest of the show's narrative. In a happy turn of events, the conclusion of 'XO, Kitty' season three on Netflix saw Peter and Lara Jean finally reconciling their differences. When Lara Jean called up Kitty to wish her happy birthday, she added that Peter had also sent his best wishes.
