'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2: Where is Kate Bishop? Archer's mysterious absence explained
This story contains spoilers for 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2.
The New York City depicted in 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 is quite an inhospitable landscape. Add to that the brutal savagery of Mayor Wilson Fisk's Anti-Vigilante Task Force, and things are at their worst. For Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, reclaiming the city is a substantial challenge, and he might need help in his endeavors. While Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones teams up with The Man Without Fear in the Disney+ show's ongoing season, the addition of Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop would have indeed worked wonders. However, Season 2 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' doesn't even mention Bishop while most of the major action unfolds, leading one to speculate about her current whereabouts.
Steinfeld debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a prominent role in the 2021 title 'Hawkeye.' She was eventually taken up as a protégé by the former Avenger, who praised her for her archery skills. Following her appearance on 'Hawkeye,' Bishop has been largely missing since then. She was briefly seen in a cameo at the end of 'The Marvels.' Her absence from 'Daredevil: Born Again' is particularly remarkable, given that the character fondly calls New York City home, and much of the action of the Dario Scardapane-led show takes place in the same vicinity. There's another connection between Bishop and the city. Her mother was previously engaged to Jacques Duquesne, who is now being held captive by the Anti-Vigilante Task Force in New York City.
Therefore, one can't be certain about Bishop's whereabouts in the MCU as of this moment. When she was last seen in 'The Marvels,' Bishop was recruited by Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, to join the team she was assembling. If this is true, Bishop is currently on equal rank with Khan and may be in direct contact with S.A.B.E.R. and Nick Fury. The Earth Orbit base of S.A.B.E.R. might just be the potential location of Bishop. Nevertheless, all of this remains speculative. On the surface, it might seem odd that Bishop didn't return to the city to rescue Duquesne.
However, in the world of the comic book source material, Bishop and Duquesne have not always seen eye to eye. Although she had previously considered him to be a murder culprit, Bishop eventually learned that he was framed by her own mother. Moreover, Bishop is no stranger to the Kingpin and had previously crossed paths with him after discovering her mother's covert dealings with him. The mob boss and the archer had faced each other off, with Bishop landing multiple arrows on Kingpin. The mob boss, regardless, escaped mostly unscathed. Perhaps Bishop knows that she alone is no match for the Kingpin and is biding her time elsewhere.
