It is no surprise that Odom lived a king-sized life. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the former reality star boasts a net worth of $20 million. Odom retired over a decade ago during the 2013-2014 season and publicly indulged in several expensive hobbies. Despite that, he maintained a staggering financial portfolio. His net worth is a result of a long basketball career, business ventures, brand collaborations, and several reality show stints. Odom supposedly earned around $115 millions while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and Dallas Mavericks from 1999 to 2014, according to HoopsHype

Odom’s other income sources include brand collaborations with popular brands, such as Samsung, Nike, and more, as well as multiple reality TV appearances over the years, as per The Tab. He has invested in personal businesses such as Rich Soil Clothing, which has now shut down, and a unisex brand called Le Saint Noir, which recently debuted at New York Fashion Week. Revenue from these ventures also contributes to his personal wealth. His business sense and prosperous sporting career have helped him hold on to a massive net worth, even amidst his struggles with addiction.

Moreover, the Netflix documentary features him talking about the 2015 incident that almost took his life. “It’s something I’m very proud of,” Odom shared with The Athletic. “As I get another day, I feel like I’m just earning stripes to be able to tell my testimony to as many people as I can. I think that’s where the healing begins.” It happened on October 13, 2015, when he was discovered unconscious in Love Ranch, a brothel located in Nevada, some 70 miles outside Las Vegas. His condition was so serious that many believed he would not survive. However, by some miracle, he managed to survive. For years, many have speculated about the near-fatal accident. Odom himself confessed that he does not remember a lot about that time. “My family was told two or three times they might want to say a final goodbye. … It was a miracle for me to be alive,” he shared. The episode promises to answer many unanswered questions.

The documentary also features interviews with those impacted by the incident, like his two ex-wives, Khloe Kardashian and Liza Morales, as well as his children. The 90-minute episode also sheds light on his lifelong struggle with addiction, which manifested in incidents like the 2015 one. “I think if you understand the death of his mom when he’s 10, the death of his 6-month-old son early in his NBA career …,” said Ryan Duffy, the film’s director. “If you understand his father, his relationship to substances, I do think you can kind of look at that Nevada thing, hopefully, with a little more empathy.” The former reality star hopes that his story helps others struggling with addiction and come out on the other end. Currently, he is awaiting a July 7 bench trial on suspicion of DUI in Las Vegas and has completed a 30-day rehabilitation stint.
