'How to Get Away with Murder' season 6's big death might be Laurel Castillo, fear fans

While fans are struggling to wrap their heads around the out-of-the-blue twist in season 5's finale, they also feel that wherever Laurel is, things aren't looking good for her.

'How to Get Away with Murder' is returning with its sixth and final season this Wednesday and fans are still not over the shock of the final scene with Annalise (Viola Davis) and Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza) from season 5, where Laurel just ends up disappearing into thin air, leaving Annalise stranded in the middle of a crowded street, screaming out her name. But while fans are struggling to wrap their heads around the out-of-the-blue twist, they also feel that wherever Laurel is, things aren't looking any good for her.

The official trailer for the upcoming final season was pretty much a recap of all the murders and mayhem on the series so far, but when it came to teasing what's coming next, all they showed was an unraveled Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee) bludgeoning the hell out of someone (most likely, since there's blood splattered all over his clothes and the weapon) and a casket being lowered six feet under, while the visible attendees at the funeral is pretty much everyone excluding Annalise, Laurel, and Emmett Crawford (Timothy Hutton.)

Of course eagle-eyed fans took notice of the missing trio and speculated it is one of them inside the casket being lowered, and we get it, there's no killing off the dynamic Annalise Keating (why would you even do that!?) but they could do that just for the shock value of going out with a blast. Ye, Annalise isn't the only option in this situation, because with Laurel disappearing, there's quite the odd chance that the girl with the influential family and not the most pleasant quirks ends up being the big death this season.

Or maybe, we are just reading too much between the lines (scenes, actually) and Laurel is just keeping her distance from the rest of them to protect them, because - you know, she isn't all that horrible after all. Twitter user @LavendarGrace8 asks, "Was thanking Annalise, Laurel’s way of saying goodbye? Did she disappear on her own because she thinks her friends are better off without her?" And honestly, that has gotten us all thinking about the person Laurel could turn into, despite being a self-proclaimed cheater and a murderer. I mean, she has a baby now, just cut her some slack!

'How to Get Away with Murder' returns this September 26 at 9 pm only on ABC.
