Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and have been born between June 2, 1995, and February 15, 2010. Those who won the top spot in any prior 'American Idol' season are not permitted to compete.
Furthermore, competitors cannot be prohibited from fully participating in the show by any contractual agreements they may have.
