DIXON, KENTUCKY: Amanda Halterman, 42, is a prominent figure on the reality TV series '1000-lb Sisters', where she gained recognition as the half-sister of Tammy and Amy Slaton, as well as Misty Slaton. Her debut on the show occurred during the third season, which aired on TLC on November 15, 2021. With her engaging presence, Amanda quickly captured the attention of viewers. But while her TV debut may have conferred fame on her, it has not brought financial stability.

In a recent TikTok video, Amanda shared her financial concerns, admitting to an almost "broke lifestyle" and uncertainty about the show's future. She currently juggles her demanding and hectic day job while earning a bare minimum per episode on TLC's '1000-lb. Sisters'.

What does '1000-lb Sisters' star Amanda Halterman do for a living?

Amanda Halterman, known for her authenticity and humility, recently revealed on TikTok that she has been working as a school bus driver for nearly a decade. Despite her rising popularity in the show, Amanda remains grounded, dedicating her days to safely transporting children to and from school. While she modestly refers to herself as a co-star on her sisters' reality TV series, fans ardently argue that she is the true star of the show. She was also regarded as the most authentic family member of the show.

In a TikTok video, replying to a question asked by her follower which said, "As a bus driver, do you have to get up early," she mentioned how she has to be "up and out of my house at about 5:30" in the morning. She has been taking her job seriously as a bus driver as many people in the comment section also confirmed.

'The show won't last forever'

When a follower gave her some advice, stating, "Hope you are saving for your rainy day, the show will only last so long," Amanda gave a very true and vulnerable response. The '1000-lb Sisters' star said she almost lives like she is broke. "I do not live above my means. I'm not rich, by no means, but I'm gonna be just fine. I was doing just fine without the show, so the money I make off the show, that's not even budgeted. I don't even put that in my budget, because I don't live off the show. Because that show is not forever." She further added by saying,  "I work my a** off doing what I've got to do to make sure my bills are paid. I like that you did say that because if people lived every day as if it were a rainy day then a lot of us would probably be a lot better off." In the end, she arrived at the conclusion and said, "Obviously it's nice to get a little bit of money from the show and have a little nest egg, but when the show ends it doesn't really matter that much to me."

How much does each cast member of '1000-lb Sisters' make from the show?

The cast members of '1000-lb Sisters' receive varying compensation for their appearances on the show. Amanda earns approximately $700 per month for her not-so-frequent appearances on the show. However, it is important to note that more established TLC shows like 'Little People, Big World' tend to pay their cast members more per episode, ranging from $7,000 to $10,000. According to The Sun, Tammy Slaton earns around $2,000 to $3,000 per episode, amounting to $20,000 to $30,000 for a ten-episode series. In addition to their show earnings, the Slaton sisters generate income from their YouTube channel and make money through the Cameo app, charging $40 for every personalized video message. Tammy's estimated net worth is around $100,000, while Amy's net worth is estimated to be roughly $250,000.
