SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA: Tyler Christopher best known for his roles in shows like 'Days of Our Lives' and 'General Hospital' has died. He passed away at the age of 50.
As per a report by TMZ, the heartbreaking news of Christopher's demise was confirmed by his former 'General Hospital' co-star Maurice Benard.
The beloved soap star took his last breaths in his San Diego apartment on Tuesday morning. The cause behind his demise was a cardiac arrest.
Maurice shared a statement on Instagram that read, "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment."
Benard went on to say, "Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting. Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him."
He also stated, "Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father."

Tyler Christopher's acting career
Christopher was well-noted by the fans for playing the role of Nikolas Cassadine on the legendary medical soap opera 'General Hospital' from 1996 to 2016.
In addition to this, he also portrayed the character of Stefan DiMera on 'Days of Our Lives' from 2018 to 2019. He won a Daytime Emmy for his brilliant performance in the show.
Throughout the course of his incredible acting career, he also made appearances on several shows like 'The Lying Game', 'The Twilight Zone', 'Family Law', and 'Charmed', 'Angel' and 'The Pretender.'
Tyler Christopher was arrested by cops in May 2023
Earlier this year in May 2023, Christopher was arrested by the police authorities at the Hollywood Burbank Airport for public intoxication.
At that point in time, he was released on $250 bail. This was the not first time, he got arrested. He was involved in a similar incident in the year 2019 when he fell asleep in the back of an Uber.
Then, Tyler pleaded guilty and a judge denied a request by law enforcement that Christopher be sentenced to an alcohol treatment program.
Who is Tyler Christopher's wife?
Christopher tied the knot with former ESPN reporter Brienne Pedigo in the year 2008. The former couple who reportedly got divorced in 2021 share two children: Greysun James Christopher and Boheme Christopher.
Before walking down the aisle with Pedigo, the 'General Hospital' star was married to 'Desperate Housewives' alum Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004.
