NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: After a long wait of almost five months, a spokesperson for the New York City Medical Examiner has finally unveiled a cause of death for Charlbi Dean, the star of Robert Ostlund's 'Triangle of Sadness' who passed away unexpectedly in the New York City in August 2022. She was 32.

On August 29, 2022, it was reported that the South African born actress died from a sudden and unexpected illness. At the time, the cause of death was not disclosed. However, the medical examiner of New York City has now determined that the actress died because of bacterial sepsis.

According to the examiner, the actress suffered a sepsis because of a "remote blunt trauma to her torso" which went on to take the form of a sepsis. The sepsis was a "complication from asplenia" (the absence of a spleen). The report also tells us that the actress' death was ruled an accident, per People Magazine

At the time of the actress' death, her brother Alex Jacobs told Rolling Stone that the doctors removed her spleen after a very bad car accident that took place in 2009. Apart from that she suffered broken ribs and a broken back due to the accident.

The recent report by the medical examiner also revealed that the model suffered from bacterial sepsis after she got infected from a bacteria known as Capnocytophaga. According to CDC, Capnocytophaga is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria which is normally found in the "oropharyngeal tract of mammals". It is commonly found in the mouths of cats and dogs. Although they might not seem dangerous on the first look, it can cause an infection in a person with a weakened immune system. The CDC also explains people who get their spleens removed will have a weakened immune system.

It's really hard to predict if an animal bite was responsible for the star's death because the fully autopsy report hasn't been made public.

The whole world was shocked when they got to know about Dean's death and mourned the death of the talented actress. She plays the role of Yaya, a rich model invited for a luxury cruise on a superyacht, but things turn upside down once the cruise gets hit by a seastorm. The movie had its world premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival and garnered universal acclaim. Dean was praised for her performance and was considered to be the next big thing in the entertainment industry.

Apart from 'Triangle of Sadness', the actress was also known for her role in The CW's 'Black Lightning'.
