Contains spoilers and speculation
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 premiered its final episode on August 4 on HBO, bringing an end to a memorable season that had the audience on the edge of their seats throughout.
As the watch ends for a while, excitement builds for the next season and what the makers of the show have in store for us in Season 3. 'House of the Dragon' is a production-heavy show, and it might be a while before we see the third season but till then here's a sneak peek into what you can expect from the show in Season 3 as per the source material 'Fire and Blood' by George R R Martin.
1. Battle of Gullet
The Blockade of Gullet has been referenced multiple times in the second season and it has kept the supplies out of King's Landing making the city's smallfolk find it hard to survive.
The blockade has broken the economic stability of the Greens and they must get rid of it to find their way back in the Dance of the Dragons.
A battle ensues in Gullet and it will turn out to be the most gruesome battle the Seven Kingdoms have seen. The battle takes place between the Blacks who are commanded by the Velaryon fleet in the sea and the Triarchy who have the support of Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans).
The battle will see thousands die. In the book, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) who orchestrates the victory in this battle for the Blacks calls this victory one he would never hope to win again.
2. Battle Above Gods Eye
Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) look like they have been on a collision course forever and their paths finally collide above the Gods Eye Lake.
The two unpredictable characters will clash with each other on their fierce dragons Vhagar and Caraxes and both of them will cancel each other out and kill each other.
Both the fierce dragons die in battle too as they fall into the lake and generate a huge splash of water.
3. Betrayal by Ulf and Hugh
Dragonseeds Ulf (Tom Bennett) and Hugh (Kieran Bew) will betray Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and join the Greens. Hugh and Ulf will have the biggest dragons once Vhagar and Caraxes die.
With Vermithor and Silverwing at their command, both of them will begin to harbor ambitions of sitting on the Iron Throne before being ultimately killed.
4. Storming of Dragonpit
A riot takes place in King's Landing leading to the storming of the dragon pit and the death of many dragons including the Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen's dragon Syrax.
Resentment in King's Landing grows against Rhaenyra and the Stomring of the dragon pit brings an end to her reign as the queen as she flees to Dragonstone where Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) is waiting for her. Rhaenyra is killed by Sunfyre.
5. Aegon reclaims the Iron Throne
Season 2 was severe on Aegon as he faced insult and injury but Season 3 will bring some cheer for him as he gets his position back as the King. He is still suffering the effects of his injuries but will return to King's Landing and rule as the King.
He will ultimately be poisoned to death by conspirators that include Larys Strong (Matthew Needham), and Corlys Velaryon. Whether we see his death in the third season or not remains to be seen.
