'House of the Dragon' Season 2: Why HBO's mega-hit show has mostly wasted Caraxes's potential
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'House of the Dragon'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 6 aired on HBO on July 21, 2024, and the engaging show furthered the exciting storyline of the Blacks and Greens as they prepare for another epic battle after the Battle at Rook's Rest.
Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) who is perhaps the most able commander for the Blacks has been at Harrenhall trying to take over Riverlands with his dragon Caraxes relatively inactive as the other dragons are engaged in action.
Daemon is battling his demons while his dragon is waiting for a battle to show his ferocity and the showrunners seem to have done a grave injustice to the fierce dragon also known as the Blood Wyrm.
Caraxes is a veteran of many battles
While Caraxes is still a relatively young dragon, he has already been a veteran of many battles. He was the ride for Prince Aemon Targaryen before the events of 'House of the Dragon' began.
As per 'Fire and Blood', Aemon was prolific with Caraxes when the Fourth Dornish War began and he would be instrumental in the victory for the Targaryens. After Aemon died in the battle, Caraxes was ridden by Aemon's nephew Daemon Targaryen.
Daemon used to ride Caraxes with Rhaenyra Targaryen's (Emma D'Arcy) dragon Syrax while he was in Dragonstone. He used Caraxes in Stepstones in his victory against the Traiarchy.
Unfortunately, for the fans of the dragon, Caraxes's involvement in the show has been limited, and while Vhagar, Meleys, and Sunfyre have been active in battle, Caraxes has been waiting for Daemon to ride him into action much to the chagrin of the fans.
What happens to Caraxes in 'House of the Dragon'?
Caraxes and Daemon will ride to King's Landing and take over the capital along with Rhaenyra. Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) and Vhagar will take out their frustration on the Riverlands and Daemon will call Aemond out for a war between the two fierce dragon riders.
Vhagar is the biggest dragon in the seven kingdoms and has already shown his ferocity in the battles that he has fought and killed Meleys and Arrax. He also incapacitated Sunfyre in the Battle at Rook's Rest.
Vhagar and Caraxes will finally go into battle along with their dragon riders in Battle Above the Gods Eye. The battle will be one of the most epic battles in the show and will compensate for all the inaction that Caraxes has seen so far.
Caraxes takes on Vhagar and kills him but he loses his life too in the process as both the huge dragons fall into the lake creating a huge splash. The battle will also see Daemon and Aemond killed in the action.
