Contains spoilers for 'House of the Dragon' Season 2
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 4 premiered on HBO on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
The enthralling episode left fans devastated as Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) died at the hands of Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) and Vhagar.
The episode has captivated audiences worldwide, with fans analyzing every gripping moment and searching for clues about what lies ahead.
'House of the Dragon' is based on George RR Martin's book 'Fire and Blood'. In the latest episode, some clues and events foreshadowed future battles and outcomes, some of which played out in the same episode.
Here's a look at the easter eggs from 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 4
Aemond Targaryen at Harrenhall
In recent episodes, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) has been depicted struggling with hallucinations at Harrenhall. In one haunting instance, he sees a figure resembling himself but dressed as Aemond.
This foreshadows an upcoming battle between Aemond and Daemon where both go head to head and are killed at Harrenhall.
There is a transition from Aemond to Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin). This marks another significant development, as Aemond and Alys will later become lovers in the series.
Laena Velaryon and Vhagar
Among Daemon's other hallucinations is Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell), who was his wife before she died in childbirth. Many would recall that Laena and Daemon shared a strong bond over their rides on Vhagar and Caraxes.
If Laena were alive, Aemond might not have claimed Vhagar, and she could have potentially helped prevent further conflict among the Blacks, possibly saving many lives and bringing an early end to the conflict.
Daemon considers himself responsible for Laena's death, and his hallucinations serve as a manifestation of that guilt, not just for himself but for the realm at large.
Alyn of Hull getting his honor
In one of the final moments of Rhaenys's life, we see her discussing with her husband Colrys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) about honoring Alyn for saving Colrys. This indicates that Rhaenys is aware of Alyn being Corlys's illegitimate child.
This wish of Rhaenys will come true later in the series when Alyn is recognized as a Velaryon and assumes the role of Lord of the Tides from Corlys Velaryon.
Rhaenyra Targaryen on the Iron Throne
In the opening shot of Episode 4, we see Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) sitting on the Iron Throne wearing the crown.
Although this is just one of Daemon's hallucinations, where he sees a younger version of Rhaenyra sitting on the throne, this vision will eventually come true.
The vision of a younger Rhaenyra on the throne during Daemon's hallucination was a major foreshadowing of King's Landing falling during the Dance of the Dragons, with Rhaenyra becoming Queen in 'Fire and Blood'.
Aegon II Targaryen and Sunfyre
Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney), and his dragon, Sunfyre, were injured in the final moments of the episode. This development marks a pivotal turning point in the war, with Aemond set to assume the role of Prince Regent.
As King's Landing falls later in the season, we will see Aegon move to Dragonstone, which is located near Rook's Rest.
The dragon Sunfyre loses a wing and will require time to heal before returning to compete again later on Dragonstone against Moondancer.
