'Homeland' Season 8 Episode 8: Numan Acar's 'powerful' portrayal of Haissam Haqqani's death earns fans' praise

'Homeland's official page of Twitter had focussed on one major character for the first 15 minutes of the show— Numan Acar's Haissam Haqqani. The Taliban leader was instrumental this season in working with Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) on the peace settlement between the Taliban and Afghanistan. 

In the previous episode, Haqqani was seen surrendering to the US and then condemned to death for the death of the two presidents. However, it was an obvious frame and a manipulative move pulled by the sly General G'ulom (Mohammad Bakri) despite Saul and Tasneem Qureishi (Nimrat Kaur) trying to stall the proceedings in order to save Haqqani. 

Fans were lavish in praise of Acar for his performance as Haqqani. "He is brilliant!!!!!" said a fan and this thought was seconded by many who were catching up with the episode. Another hoped for Haqqani to get his own show. "Numan and his character.....possibly need their own show!! Wow!" while one fan termed is performance: "Arrow of God school of acting!"

The episode saw a helpless Saul look on as Haqqani was shot dead by a firing squad. And one fan, in particular, was absolutely devastated. "That scene hurt my soul" she tweeted. His death scene was hailed as "powerful" by many. "Oh my goodness. What a powerful scene. @NumanAcar_amazing performance" said another.  One fan blamed Haqqani's son for the death. "Damn your son! You should have killed when you wanted to but I still say Pakistan Tasneem has a hand in it!"

Costa Ronin, who plays the Russian agent, Yevgeny Gromov live-tweeted while the show was on and he was one of the actors who was all praise for Acar's performance. "How amazing is @NumanAcar_‘s performance throughout the seasons?? From enemy#1 to someone we want to live and keep going to finish what he started... #Homeland #FinalSeason," the actor said. "He got to die a soldier’s death. That is a sign of respect for him," a fan opined. Sadly, Haqqani was a victim of dirty and disgusting politics.
