'Watchmen' Episode 6 promo shows Angela under Nostalgia living through Reeves’ past and facing Crawford, possibly before he was hung
The first episode of 'Watchmen' ended with Angela Abar (Regina King) arriving in the dark of the night at a site where Tulsa's Chief of Police Judd Crawford (Don Johnson) was seen strung up on a tree. And below him, Will Reeves (Louis Gossett Jr.) was seated in a wheelchair.
The question of what connects these two men has been one of the burning questions the show hasn't explored beyond the surface. The upcoming episode 6 titled 'This Extraordinary Being' might finally give us a hint if not the answer itself.
What makes us think so is this one scene featuring Crawford we see in the promo of the upcoming episode. In the promo, we see Angela Abar face the consequences of ingesting a bottle full of a drug called Nostalgia. Angela lives through Reeves' past and in the process, she gives us an insight into who Reeves is.
It is through this experience of Angela's we may also get a chance at learning what connected the dead Chief Crawford and Will Reeves. One of the scenes that feature Angela in her grandfather's shoes sees her come face to face with Crawford.
For now, we can assume this is a memory of Reeves from the night Crawford was murdered. That night, Crawford's car was railroaded using sharp spikes planted on the road. We were not privy to what happened between then and the time he was strung up.
From the glimpse we have got of the memory, Crawford is seen speaking to Reeves, explaining that Reeves has no idea what is going on, but that is as much as we know for now. We also see the scene of a badge on the floor with blood dripping on it, the same scene which was featured at the end of the first episode.
Other than clarifying the connection between Crawford and Reeves, the episode will likely tell us more about who Reeves has allied himself with. For instance, he has planned something big with Lady Trieu (Hong Chau).
We also see Senator Joe Keene (James Wolk) has something planned for which he needed Angela to be out of action. Are all three of them working together? One thing that is certain is there are no sides when it comes to the world of 'Watchmen'. This makes it difficult to understand if there is a right and a wrong in this universe.
Other than exploring the connection between Crawford and Reeves, we might also learn how Crawford is connected to the Ku Klux Klan, which his father was a part of, and the Seventh Kavalry (7K). Is he to blame for the White Night as well?
After all, he was one of the two survivors of a synchronized attack by the 7K members directed at the cops. The other survivor was Angela.
The next episode of 'Watchmen' will air on Sunday at 9 pm ET on HBO.
