Latest 'Landman' update will send fans of Taylor Sheridan's hit oil drama mighty excited
In a piece of news that does not come as a surprise, 'Landman' has been renewed for a third season by Paramount+. The Taylor Sheridan drama is in the middle of its second season and is set in West Texas. The series is a modern-day story set in the world of oil rigs. The oil drama is based on the sine wave-like story of wild and eccentric billionaires and roughnecks fueling a massive boom that reshapes the economy and geopolitics.
The news was confirmed by Deadline earlier today. The news was expected, although the latest development confirms an official season. The official synopsis reads, "In Season Two, as oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’ (Billy Bob Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes. As Norris faces "mounting pressure" from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore) and "the shadow of his kin," his "survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break."
Earlier, Sam Elliot teased season 3 even before the second instalment's premiere. Speaking to ExtraTV, the actor teased that 'Landman' Season 3 is slated to go on floors in April or May 2026. "I'm excited to see what unfolds in [Landman] season 3. I mean, we're talking about season 2, but that's backstory for us at this point. We're all looking toward April and May when we start shooting season 3." At the time of writing, there is no official release date for the third season.
He also shared his two cents on why the role appealed to him, and he inked a deal that sees him part of one of the more hit shows this year. "It’s got all the elements. It’s got humor. It’s got drama. It’s got reality," Elliot said. "It’s got Taylor Sheridan all over it. Taylor tells the truth… He knows about different subjects that interest people. It’s well-written and well-grounded stuff. There’s a gifted bunch of people who have the opportunity to say Taylor’s words, and I think it’s a lot of fun for the audience."
Co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, in addition to Thornton and Moore, the series also stars Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, and Sam Elliott. Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feorel round up the rest of the cast.
'Landman' Season 2 is currently streaming on Paramount+
