Imfact is a third-gen boy group that debuted in 2016. After successful album releases and a world tour, in 2022, their label Star Empire Entertainment released a sudden statement. On January 3, they announced that Imfact had disbanded much to their fans’ shock. Their last comeback had been in April 2020 with their first mini-album ‘L.L’. However, the K-pop group’s leader, Jian had better news.

Imfact’s label first released a statement sharing that their exclusive contract had been for seven years and had finally come to an end. Star Empire shared, “The company and IMFACT shared a deep conversation together, and both sides made a mutual agreement to not proceed with a contract renewal.” And while everyone thought that this meant that the group had disbanded, this doesn’t seem to be the case according to the members of Imfact.

Imfact’s leader Jian assures fans

Imfact is currently going through their military service as Jeup was the first to enlist for his mandatory military service in 2020 followed by Jian. Taeho is the third and latest member to enlist in December 2021. And while it looks like it will take time before the K-pop group reunites as a whole, they are still very much together. After Star Empire’s statement, Jian came online and shared a reassuring message. He explained that even though the members had all left the label, they were still together.

He added that, at the moment, it would be difficult to get together and promote as a group since three out of the five members including him were currently in the military. But all of them wanted to continue as Imfact. Jian added, “This is not a disbandment.” On January 1, he had shared a similar message which was probably meant to soften the contract termination news as he had said, “No matter how things may change, the Imfact members always want to stay together.

‘We still have Imfact’

Fans shared relieved posts as they made tweets like, “IF family ... big hugs We still have IMFACT and each other.” Another fan joked that Imfact had ‘pulled a GOT7’ who left their label but stayed together, “IMFACT and GOT7 in January :).” One happy fan posted, “Jian reassured us that imfact want to stay together, which is nice. i hope they can find somewhere else to go to continue making music together.” An angry fan commented, “THEY didn’t announce shit. Star Empire said some bs about them not renewing their contracts. Jian said YESTERDAY that Imfact wasn’t disbanding, just leaving the company. Star Empire needs to never debut another group ever again, period.” Another fan was touched that Jian personally assured fans, “This is giving me so much closure im actually glad it didnt go worse than that.”
