'Harry & Meghan': Netflix docuseries beats 'The Crown' Season 5 in terms of viewership
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Harry & Meghan’ has finally made its way to Netflix and opened to a bumper response. Whether it is bad or good, people are flocking the streaming website to watch the docu-series. The first part of the series consisted of three episodes and was released on the streaming platform on December 8. Part One of the highly-anticipated series saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle talking about their relationship and how they decided to move out of the royal family. Apart from that, the docu-series touches a lot of other areas as well. However, everyone wanted to know how many people tuned in to watch the series or if was it able to beat the ratings of ‘The Crown’? Well, the numbers are finally out and as expected, they are BIG!
The viewing figures for Netflix’s ‘Harry & Meghan’ have been revealed and according to the independent rating organization Barb (via Deadline), the first episode of the docu-series was seen by more than 2.4 million viewers on the first day of its release. This is undoubtedly an unprecedented number for a docu-series and these figures will increase as the weekend approaches.

It is worth noticing that the figures mentioned above are of the people who watched the series on their TV sets on Day 1. It doesn’t include those who watched the show on phones, laptops, and other devices.
In the process, the docuseries has edged past ‘The Crown’ when it comes to viewership. The first episode of ‘Harry & Meghan’ drew 2.4 million viewers on Day One while the first episode of ‘The Crown’ Season 5 saw 1.1 million viewers tuning for the first episode. Meanwhile, the other two episodes of the docuseries clocked in 1.5 million and 800,000 viewers on the first day of its release.
These figures come almost 24 hours later than it was revealed the docuseries took more than 30 hours to claim the top spot in the US. The docu-series is one of the most polarizing shows of all time and gathered mixed reviews from viewers. In the show, the Duke of Sussex also discussed his mother Princess Diana and the panorama interview that took place in 1995. He also recalled the kind of harassment she faced at the time. As of now, there has not been any official statement made by the royal household.
The second part of three episodes is slated to be released on December 15.
