'Hamilton' is an absolute icon of Broadway, a musical that has transcended the stage to become a part of the cultural fabric of America. And now, Disney is all set to release a recorded version of the musical play on their streaming service Disney+. Filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, the movie promises to transport its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way. The trailer for the movie features a medley of some of the show's most popular tunes and has got us hyped up for what is to come.

Based on what we see in the promotional clip, this won't just be as simple as a recording of a play. The whole movie appears to be filmed in such a way as to provide an immersive, film-like experience for viewers without detracting from the uniquely theatrical elements of the production. With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Thomas Kail, 'Hamilton' takes inspiration from the book 'Alexander Hamilton' by Ron Chernow. It details the story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, told in two acts, and is one of the most influential musicals of the last twenty years.

The show has received acclaim both for its artistic brilliance and for casting a number of non-white actors in the roles of important historical figures like Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson. The play is an 11-time-Tony Award winner and has earned a Grammy, six Olivier Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize. 'Hamilton' was produced by Thomas Kail, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Jeffrey Seller, with Sander Jacobs and Jill Furman serving as executive producers. RadicalMedia produced the filming for this stage-to-screen adaptation.

The show stars the talents of Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Jonathan Groff as King George; Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton; and Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton.

'Hamilton' will open on Disney+ on July 3, 2020.
