According to the official synopsis of the film, the story is inspired by "the life of a fearless young officer who made history by becoming the first Indian female Air Force officer to fly in a combat zone during the 1999 Kargil War."

Janhvi Kapoor as Gunjan Saxena
The 23-year-old Kapoor made waves when she first arrived in the industry as actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor's daughter. She is known for her role in 'Dhadak', which was also produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and was based on 'Sairat' by Nagraj Manjule.
She is also known for her work in the Netflix horror anthology film 'Ghost Stories'.
Pankaj Tripathi
One of the most talented actors in the Bollywood film industry, Tripathi is set to essay the role of Gunjan's father. The actor is notable for his antagonistic role in the 'Gangs of Wasseypur' film series, and 'Masaan'. His performance in 'Newton' earned him several accolades including a National Film Award - Special Mention. The 2017 film was also India's official entry for the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Film category. Tripathi is also known for delivering remarkable performances in Netflix's 'Sacred Games' and 'Mirzapur'.
Angad Bedi
Bedi stars as Gunjan Saxena's brother, who by the looks of the trailer is also in the army. He is known for his film debut in 'FALTU'. His work in movies such as 'Ungli', 'PINK' and 'Inside Edge' is also well known.
The movie also stars Manav Vij, who is known for his work in 'Udta Punjab', 'Rangoon', 'Phillauri', 'Naam Shabana' and 'Andhadhun', and Vineet Kumar Singh, known for 'Mukkabaaz', 'Bombay Talkies', and 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.
