‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17: Will Cristina Yang return after Derek Shepherd? Here's why Sandra Oh should say yes
What seemed impossible came true on 'Grey's Anatomy'! Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) — lovingly known as McDreamy — returned to an unconscious Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) after she collapsed in the parking lot following a series of shifts taking care of Covid-19 patients. Now, she herself has contracted the deadly virus and while being treated for it, she met Derek during a dream beach sequence.
If that was not enough to keep your heart full, the ABC show producers have teased the return of more original cast members in Season 17. Executive producers Andy Reaser and Meg Marinis told PEOPLE that “wonderful and completely surprising things are absolutely possible." Moreover, showrunner Krista Vernoff told Deadline that we'll "have to tune in and see who comes to the beach. It’ll be a joyful discovery."
Out of all the wonderful possibilities, fans are waiting with bated breath to see Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) by Meredith's side. "To all my Grey’s Fans it HAS to be Cristina there is no one else we want to see more than Cristina Yang herself," one wrote and another said, "Is Cristina Yang coming back to Greys Anatomy this season?!! I need answers now."

Sadly, the actress has rubbished all claims of her being back on the show. Speaking to Morgan Hoffman of ET Canada about lending her voice to the animated film 'Over The Moon', Sandra Oh revealed that she would not return to 'Grey's Anatomy' — not even for the series finale.
The actress left the show back in 2014 and viewers have been waiting for her to reprise her role of Cristina Yang ever since. Looking at the hope and excitement, shouldn't Sandra Oh reconsider and say yes to be back? There's a slight possibility that the actress could be goofing around in order to not reveal her comeback.
Many fans poked their nose into IMDb listings and found out that the most recent appearance date for several former cast members was 2020. Can you believe Sandra is among those? Here's what the fan wrote: "Ummmmm has anyone checked IMDB for #GreysAnatomy lately. 2020 on some MAJOR favourites!!!!! @GreysABC you’re making my dreams come true. Denny and Christina. Somehow. Some way." Another user wrote: "Another person from her past? It’s either George O’Malley or Cristina Yang! I want Lexie Grey!"

In the latest episode, Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) was taking care of Meredith, but fans don't want her and are requesting Cristina to return, who they call not only the "cardio god", but also Meredith's person. Asking the showrunners to "stop messing with emotions," one said, "'Another person from her past, returns' I mean, I couldn't think of another person but Cristina Yang, her "person" or could it be Lexie. Stop messing with our emotions!
Another Twitter user posted, "I NEED TO SEE CRISTINA YANG BARGING IN THE ROOM AND ANNOUNCING SHE SOLVED COVID AND HAS VACCINE."

Titled 'You'll Never Walk Alone', the summary of the next episode reads: "Owen faces a medical diagnosis that challenges more than he imagined; Koracick begins to go stir crazy; Maggie gets a not-so-subtle glimpse into Winston's background."
The next episode of ‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 will air on December 3 from 9 to 10 pm ET on ABC.
